Morbid: What do you want to have played on your funeral?

Traditional Irish drinking songs.

No doubt there will be much rejoicing in the world when I kick the bucket, but for the scant few that will feel a loss, I don’t want it to be a sad affair. I want people to have as much fun as possible, drinking and singing and dancing. None of this crap about wandering around eating casseroles and pies and mumbling about how sorry they are to each other.

If I die right this minute, I’d want “Loser” by Beck to play at my funeral.
So open the door,I’m a loser baby, why don’t you kill me?
Queen’s “Another One Bites The Dust” (That commercial with the guy driving the hurst blasting that song makes me laugh everytime).
And then, to make everybody cry “Yesterday” The Beatles.

“Gone Away” by The Offspring

Maybe in another life
I could find you there
Pulled away before your time
I can’t deal it’s so unfair

And it feels
And it feels like
Heaven’s so far away
And it feels
Yeah it feels like
The world has grown cold
Now that you’ve gone away

Leaving flowers on your grave
Show that I still care
But black roses and Hail Mary’s
Can’t bring back what’s taken from me
I reach to the sky
And call out your name
And if I could trade
I would

And it feels
And it feels like
Heaven’s so far away
And it stings
Yeah it stings now
The world is so cold
Now that you’ve gone away

Serenade
Instrumental - Frank Peterson and Michael Soltau

How Fair This Place
Music and Lyrics - Sergei Rachmaninov
adapted by Sarah Brightman

It’s so nice here…
Look, over there in the distance
A river is sparkling with fire,
Meadows stretch out like a
multi-colored carpet,
And clouds are white.

There are no people here…
There is silence…
There is only God and I.
There are flowers and
An old pine,
And you, the soul of my dream!
Solo Con Te (Only With You)
Music and Lyrics - Georg F. Handel
adapted by Frank Peterson and Sarah Brightman

I will find joy in my heart
With you I will reach heaven
There will be peace

I will find joy in my heart
With you I will reach heaven
There will be peace

I will find joy in my heart
With you I will reach heaven
With you I will see a new world
With absolutely no apologies to any record company, these are tracks 7, 8, and 13 from the Sarah Brightman CD:
La Luna
I rather like these pieces; give 'em a listen. (My apologies for not providing the translated texts for Russian and Italian readers; they got blown away in the pasting)

Some Charlie Byrd would be nice to finish the thing off.

My friends already know that i want Stand by me played at my funeral.
100%
couldnt have it any other way.
i love that song

Cremated. Sprinkled out the roof of a car in a police chase with frantic banjo-music being played ( like in the Simpsons when Homer nad Grandpa-Simpson are speeding away from teh bumpkins after selling the magic tonic. )

…or even in *Bonnie and Clyde.

I want to BE at my funeral, and see what people play. And do. And say. But since I most likely won’t get my wish…
Heck: who am I to pick?

“They’re Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-ha!”

I can’t think of any song I like and identify with so much that I would want it associated forever in people’s minds with my death. If there’s going to be anything played at my memorial service (I plan on going the Pauper’s Burial route for my body disposal) it will be upbeat and instrumental.
