Or you know what, don’t. Just run your own continuous Darwin Awards, in the most tornadic area of the country. And if you seceded, that would be good fucking riddance.
I think you need to check your sources. TopekaNews.com is not exactly the hotbed of quality news.
The article references Saddlebridge, Oklahoma; Saddlebridge Township and Saddleback School District. I cannot find any of these in Oklahoma. I also searched Google for this story elsewhere; and I’m only finding references to it on sources that I would say are questionable at best. Most of them are regurgitating the same crap, of which I believe to be wrong. This forum is to fight ignorance, not promote it. Can you provide any other evidence that this is true?
Ah, thanks, and sorry for the misinformation. :smack: I will have to tell my FB friend who shared it either similarly credulously, or extremely deadpan.
I submit though that this is not a sufficiently extreme exaggeration to be obvious. And the basement thing, which is really more stubbornly obtuse in a way (given the life-and-death implications) is not satire, I am virtually certain. So I’m going to stick with my “worst” designation, given that it is ugly, far from anything/everything at all cool, and stolen from Native Americans after they had previously been kicked out of more desirable territories.
(To be fair, I live in Missouri, a state that is rapidly heading in a shitty direction and seemingly doing its utmost in recent years to compete with places like OK for general awfulness; but we’re still not quite that bad.)
It’s kind of mediocre actually. But my friends and family are here, so where else am I going to go?
Contrary to what you see on TV and in movies, only 1/3 of the people in Nebraska live in rural counties. The other 2/3 are in urban areas like Lincoln and Omaha.
The country/farmer lifestyle is a big thing, though, no matter where you are. Friend of mine in college wore a cowboy hat, cowboy boots, and a bolo tie to classes. A frickin’ bolo tie. Lord.
