More fun Japanese girl-metal

Here’s a link to the Band-Maid twitter site. Lots of pictures, although the captions are in Japanese.

[it seems “pony-tail” girl does play guitar, just didn’t in that one live clip]

Hysteric Lolita:

Yes! Me likey!

Watched that video about ten times and added to favorites.

Thank you!

Made me think of these gals.

5, 6, 7, 8s

Holy Shit! Love that one!
Thanks!

Damn, this is a killer song. They can play the hell out of their instruments. And while I can’t understand a word I like vocals that act more like an instrument rather then a growl. I’m gonna check out more of their stuff.

Prologue by the band Destrose. (complete videos by them are hard to find, several samples, though)

In this Japanese band, only the singer is female, but it ROCKS. It’s “Hello Kitty” meets Primal Scream Therapy. Play LOUD! Second by Dazzle Vision.

No time frame listed, but according to their Facebook page, Band-Maid® is working on a new album and will release it on iTunes (“in your country”).

Thanks!

I’m really enjoying Mary’s Blood. Thanks, bunyupp!

I bought the album a few days ago, I enjoy it.

I was going to open another thread, but I had an observation about MisterRik and Band-Maid. When he opened this thread about a month ago, I went to buy the Band-Maid cd. The EP “Ai To Jonetsu No Matador” had the song Thrill and it cost $10 so I ordered it. The full album “Maid In Japan” didn’t have the song, plus they wanted $30 for it. Anyway, I checked yesterday and the EP was now $40 and the album $130!!! I think MisterRik made the band more prominent and their work more valuable.

Thanks MisterRik

I’ve been listening a lot to another all-girl band called “Ganglion”. They don’t wear the cupcake dresses, but they rock! They describe themselves as “girls emotional heavy metal”. They can play, and the singer has a great voice.

Some songs:
Black Out

Twilight

and, a heavy ballad, no video
Dearness

Again, thanks to MisterRik for getting me to look for Japanese girl bands:)

For something more on the adorable (and mind-blowing) side

I just went out back, piled up all my guitars and amps, poured gas on 'em and burned them.

I love at about 2:18 when she looks at the camera and you know she’s thinking “Yeah, I’m good!”

Band-Maid have a new song (not on the EP or 1st Album) along with a new video Real Existence.

Schweet!

Watching “Real Existence” again … the rhythm guitarist/vocalist with the pigtails (damn, I need to learn these ladies’ names) is the one member of the band that seems to be embodying that Japanese “cute” thing. She’s so damn cute. But at one point in the video, the camera focuses on her, and she has this look on her face that says, “I will fuck your life up”. It was maybe 2 seconds out of the video, but the look on her face was absolutely terrifying.

Maybe it’s just me. I went through six months of hell, 10+ years ago, dating a young woman with borderline personality disorder. And that facial expression, with conviction behind it … shudder

Her name is Miko (she’s the only one whose name I ever remember*). I think one of her main roles in the band is to be the “cute one”. I imagine the others have similar roles.

In the new video I’ve noticed that when they’re filming inside, that they are all in their stockings, no shoes. I wonder if that’s a rule for filming inside of that particular building?

*probably because it’s the only one familiar to me as an American. I think it was used in the animated Pocahontus (sp?), and my neighbors had a dog named Miko.
