More racist TV from Australia lol!

I’d go so far as to question just how widespread this stereotype is anymore. In recent years I’ve heard warnings about black guys stealing cars, breaking into houses and jumping you in bad neighborhoods just because you’re white, but I’ve never heard the “black guys love raping white wimmen!” outside of discussions of turn-of-the-century (the 19th century) beliefs.

Heh, I wonder if the ad agency, inspired by the KFC thing, threw it in just on the off-chance it would go viral on the net.

Come on guys. A quick glance at porn can show you the currency this stereotype has.

There is tons of porn out there along the lines of “Sweet wife gets pounded by BLACK MAN” or “Innocent coed destroyed by BLACK COCK.” There are numerous websites devoted to black men having sex with white women.

You never see “Kid sister gets reamed by MEXICAN PENIS” or “Teenager gets drilled by ASIAN SEX MACHINE.” You don’t really see much specialty porn out there devoted to white women with any other race (Yes, I’m sure you can dredge up an example, can we agree that it’s not representative?)

This porn is not about the relative attractiveness of slightly darker skin. This is only marginally about perceived differences in penis size (otherwise, wouldn’t it be about “huge cocks” and not “black cocks?”) There is not a ton of porn about white men getting with black women, so it is more than simple race-mixing taboos.

It’s about the idea that black men are exceptionally sexual, and have some sort of sexual power that other races do not have. It is about the idea that a white woman having sex with a black man is somehow extra dirty, and the violent wording that often accompanies this porn hints that black men are exceptionally forceful and/or that having sex with them is inherently harmful or degrading to white women.

I’ve certainly seen this sort of thing, but I have no idea how universal its appeal is. Is this sort of porn as popular in Australia, as in America? I dunno.

Just… no.

  1. PORN IS NOT MAINSTREAM! No matter how much the denizens of the Internet love porn, it does not change the fact that porn tropes have no place in a discussion of real world scenarios. The two worlds are just wholly separate even though LOTS of people watch porn. I believe this has come up a time or two in IMHO.

  2. This commercial ran afoul of the “Black men like to rape white wimmin!” stereotype, which is completely different from the “Black men have giant schlongs!” stereotype that you’re talking about. One is limp and dead, while one is large and far reaching. Which do you think is more prevelant in the world today?

:dubious: I see what you did there.

I would hope so, that was like the most obvious “I see what you did there” in the history of the world.

I had to think long and hard about it.

Well, are you being metaphorical with that second one, or is there an actual automated mechanical device involved, because…

You’re wrong.

Normally Google democracy isn’t the best way to resolve facts, but when it comes to finding internet porn, Google is the shit, as we all know.

The simple fact is that there is just as much porn about white men having sex with black women as vice versa. Interracial sex is a fairly common fetish in the US, and it works both ways.

Hispanic and Asians don’t seem to feature much either way, which is probably because they are much lower proportions of the US populations. However to the extent that they do feature, it seems that there is more material about Asian men with white women than the other way around, and more material about white men with Hispanic women.

So can you now provide some evidence for your claims, which seem to run counter to the evidence?

Did you transpose one of the first two search criteria?

Yes, and I need to be careful that when I copy and paste, I actually copy.

Before reading the article I couldn’t even figure out what was supposedly racist about it. They show a bunch of white guys committing vandalism and causing mayhem too.

And it’s limited in context, at the very least least to searches involving English. The closest to “birracial” that the porn I see being sold in Spanish gas stations gets is “bunch of ultra-blonde gals and one brunette” (Russian-sounding names are popular for the blondes, whose National ID may actually say “Ana Ramírez, birthplace Salamanca”).

I think even sven is providing porn as an example of the manifestation of racial stereotypes in America. The ‘black men want(to rape) white women’ thing isn’t dead at all. How many Kobe jokes did you tell?
Why do the race realists always quote rape statistics?

Blake I think you’ll get better results if you use chick/slut/hoes and dick in place of woman and man respectively. I got 38000 for WCBD vs. 23,400 for BCWD. Interestingly ACBD gets 633000 and LCBD gets 139000 which makes them more popular than white women and runs counter to my anecdotal experience.

We had this same controversy with Terrell Owens and Nicollete Sheridan on Monday Night Football awhile ago. If the only black guy in the commercial does something racially stereotypical, you’re at least getting a side-eye.

PS Leaving post as is but a search for innocent black dick(no quotes) returns 2.5 million. Innocent being a common stand in for young white woman.

So there is a stronger stereotype that White men want to rape Black women? Or is the stronger stereotype that Black women want to be raped by White me?

Because if the existence of a porn fetish is indicative of the existence of a stereotype, then one of those stereotypes *must *be stronger than the stereotype of Black men raping White women.

Far fewer than the number of Michael Jackson jokes, far fewer than the number of Monica Lewinski Jokes and far fewer even than the number of Divine Brown jokes.

So what does this tell us? Once again, if the existence of jokes based on real life sexual misbehaviour is indicative of stereotypes, then the most prevalent stereotype is that Black men molest White boys, then the stereotype that White men molest White women, and then the stereotype that White men patronise Black prostitutes. And way, way down the list is the ‘black men want(to rape) white women’ thing.

Why do you believe these terms give better results?

In actual fact they reflect nothing more then the indisputable stereotype that black men have large penises.

To prove the point:

[Black dick]
About 5,110,000 results (0.16 seconds)

[White dick]
About 949,000 results (0.21 seconds)

IOW just using the term [dick] should immediately get you 5 times more hits for Black men than White men even if all associations are perfectly random.

The fact that it only gave you 25% more hits when used with “white cunt” proves that your position is completely wrong. Quite clearly there is proportionally far more material about White men having sex with Black women than vice versa.

All the other evidence also runs counter to your anecdotal experience as well. Once again, all you have done is proven the point, that your search terms are doing nothing more than trolling for confirmation of the “Black men have big dicks” stereotype.

From certain types of people, yes. Unfortunately.

Yes, and [innocent white dick] returns over half a million. IOW over 1/5 as many as for Black.

As already established, any search using the term dick should net you 5 times more Blacks than Whites. It wouldn’t matter if you put in [donkey black dick] or [amputee-goats-on-fire black dick]. There are 5 times more references to Black dicks, presumably because of the well known stereotype about Black penis size. If all other associations are distributed totally at random you should get 5 times more of them associated with Black dicks.

This is Prob & Stats 101 stuff here. You need to know what your groups’ baselines are before you can draw conclusions about the effect of treatment. In your case the baseline is 5 times higher for one group than the other, and the treatment effect is less than 5 times higher. IOW the treatment actually *reduces * intra group variability. Yet despite that you insist on arguing that it increases it.

Everything we find seems to be disproving your assertion that such a stereotype actually exists at all, even in the porn industry.

And some of us still want to know whether the other 190 (approx.) countries in the world need to keep in mind the prejudices of that particular neighbor, or whether every single country needs to keep in mind the prejudices of the other 190. The ad is Australian and for the Australian market, so why should they give a shit about the prejudices of the USAnians, the Nigerians or the Finnish?

I’m reasonably sure that advertisers in the US don’t give a shit about Spanish prejudices and/or Spanish anti-discrimination laws, to provide an example.

My point was that the the stereotype of black men desiring white women is not as limp and dead as some may think. I won’t be able to make my argument with porn stats as I don’t know statistics. The big dick thing goes hand in hand with the white woman thing though . Castration after lynching and anti-miscegenation laws point to this.

Even with all the progress America has made in race relations, the stereotype is still problematic. So given that, if you have that commercial, some people are gonna groan. That’s all I’m saying.

ETA @Nava, no. But the complainants live in Australia.

All the evidence says that it is dead. Your own evidence showed that it is far more dead than the stereotype of black men desiring Japanese women; a “stereotype” that nobody has ever heard of.

You can’t get much more dead than that.

:confused:WTF?

This makes no sense whatsover

So problematic that it has less currency than the “stereotype” that Black men desire Hispanic women, and far less currency than the “stereotype” that white men desire Black women.

Hardly problematic really, is it?

Far more people groan because Obama wasn’t born in the USA. Doesn’t mean that it makes sense or has any basis in reality.

Oddly enough, the people who are most trigger-happy about accusations of racism, and loudly claim to love diversity and respect different cultures, are the very people who assume that the entire world must believe exactly the same things that they do. Or else, you know, they’re bigoted knuckle-draggers.
