More very hate-able commercials

That one just came on…the TV is playing in the background, and my back is facing it. The guy totally sounded like he was saying “crap” instead of “crab”.

He says “crack”, i.e. “I’m going to crack like nobody’s business”. I.e. crack open crabs.

But you might hear “crap”.

It also sounds like he’s saying ‘‘snow crap’’ instead of ‘‘snow crab’’.

Is anybody going to be interested in buying a Volkswagen after watching the 3 grannies test-driving one?

Only if I’m going to have a granny drive it! :stuck_out_tongue:

No worries, I like that one, too. I suffer from it myself, so I know Jamie is in for a world of pain and I feel like the look Flo gives him means she knows, too.

I don’t understand why Denorex is advertising Head & Shoulders when they’re made by different companies.

Head & Shoulders is more popular, so they need a way to get those loyal to the other brand. Ergo, they are claiming you should add Denorex to your routine rather than replace H&S.

I don’t think that’s why she gives him that look. She’s just said (after watching him chug carton after carton of milk), “Aren’t you lactose-intolerant?” And he’s just replied “This isn’t lactose–it’s milk.”

So the look isn’t so much one of sympathy, but more one of surprise that anyone could be so thick.

Don’t assume that EVERYONE knows that lactose is milk sugar.

Those that need to, do - and that is who the commercial is aimed at.

Er, it’s a car insurance commercial.

Hyuk hyuk hyuk.

so - then let me rephrase - thats who the scene/comments are intended for -

It seems that every third episode on “The Big Bang Theory” has a joke about Leonard’s lactose intolerance and some kind of dairy product.

In this age of gluten sensitivity and probiotics and sports drinks, I think people are more aware (not necessarily knowledgable) about the stuff they put into their bodies than ever before.

Glad this thread got revived as there’s currently a commercial running that I loathe!

It’s a Walmart back to school ad. Mom and son selecting items at the store. With each item, they cut to the Mother imagining her son misplacing each. So, of course, she just takes two Of everything! Two identical shirts, 2 identical backpacks, etc. Ends with happy Mom buying two of everything while smiling smugly over how smart she is!

Every time I see it I think, “Seriously?”

Ugh!

Can’t it be both?

There are numerous Lactaid products and commercials for such which run pretty often (just not as often as car insurance commercials).

Yes, exactly. Although, Lactaid and all it’s various lactose-free dairy products don’t seem to exist in the TBBT universe. Also, from their complaints you’d think it just causes bad gas, which is only the half of it.

Anyway, I gather from this offshoot discussion that some people hate this commercial?

Anything’s possible. But her expression seems more ‘WTF?’ than ‘you poor thing’ to me…note that there’s no smile, sympathetic or otherwise.

Not me; I think it’s funny. (It offers me no reason to change my car insurance over to the sponsoring company–but then that’s true of all auto-insurance commercials. They’re meant to manipulate us into identifying with the company that seems most clever and hip and droll, of course–not to provide solid information.)

Yep.

There’s a Godaddy commercial where a room full of people are apparently celebrating by doing this two arm pump thing. It goes on for maybe 15 seconds but feels like three minutes. Godaddy always has bad commercials but this one tops them all.

Godaddy
