More words/expressions to abolish

Except in the 38 months starting Jan 2009, the Adjusted rate has been lower than unadjusted 17 months, and higher 19 months (two months were equal).

Besides which, “seasonally adjusted” is more a techinque..a model…than just an expression.

I’m gonna go with the movie Dodgeball. Christine Taylor utters the phrase to Vince Vaughn as he is trying to hit on her.

Just answering the question.

Don’t you mean, “Begging the Question” ?

Actually, I was anti-utilize but I looked it up and it can be useful word, when something not currently used for the purpose is put to good and profitable use.

So you wouldn’t say “Utilize a number two pencil to fill out the form,” because, duh, that’s what pencils are for. But you could say, “we could utilize these idle technicians on another project if we budget a couple grand for training.”

Why is that better than saying, “we could use these idle technicians on another project if we budget a couple grand for training.”

Mostly you would throw up in the floor, or into the toilet, or on your best friend’s shirt. Really, it’s a synonym for barely controlled gagging.

I’ve been noticing a remarkable and nauseating trend in speech that I am curious to know if others are hearing it as well. I’m talking about beginning practically every sentence with, “I feel like…”

I have an acquaintance who cannot seem to utter a sentence without this lead-in.

Anyone else?
mmm

Anything that is obvious copspeak, ie, milspeak minus all possible hints at irony.

Miffed”. I don’t know why it makes my skin crawl, but it does.
