Is it democracy to have a horde, teeming millions of brainwashed zombies obediently obeying mandates given to them by a small group of men hiding behind curtains in a big, hideous temple? Is it democracy for this same cult to use its obscene, ill-gotten wealth to manipulate the populace with disingenuous political advertising? Do free people and freedom loving people need to do something now to halt the growing corrupting influence of the Mormon cult on democracy before it’s too late?
Ashleysara, this isn’t the forum for the type of question you are asking.
Sounds like every political party in the country.
Reported for forum change.
Hardly an actual question there. More like venom disguised as a question.
A better question would be the definition of ‘cult’ in the context of the Mormon faith. When a religion’s membership numbers in the millions, is it a ‘cult’?
runner pat, you are a saint and a scholar.
PS OP is a copy and paste.
I have this weird feeling that the OP just left the church and is in that “phenomenally betrayed” stage.
Screw moving this to Great Debates. Straight to the PIT.

Huh?
What about the Osmonds? Have you seen Marie lately? 8 kids and she is HOT HOT HOT!
Actually, your OP was so incoherent, all I got out of it was Mormons, which reminded me of the Osmonds, which reminded me of Marie. Thanks for that.
by the way, substitute Washington, or “inside the beltway” for Mormons, and I think you may be onto something.
Or, OP is a lesbian who is really really miffed (and rightfully so, according to anyone who is sympathetic to gay rights) about the Mormon influence on California’s Prop 8 (gay marriage ban) several years ago. Although, not real obvious why this has bubbled up just now.
Well said! We should ship them all back to Ireland!
…Whoops, sorry, I was looking at the calendar for 1883. I mean, we should arrest all those damn Bolshie Yids, who are ruining the economy to boot!
…Oh, sorry again, I need the 2013 calendar. Here we are…
Yup, bang on schedule for another demagogic backlash against a religious minority experiencing a sudden upswing in population and political prominence. Carry on.
I seriously doubt you’ll be back to actually engage anyone as you strike me as a garden-variety imbecile. But, just in case someone else who doesn’t have to be back in school now that the holidays are over thinks you actually have a point in your screed, here’s some information for them.
You obviously have no clue what democracy is. Perhaps by the time you graduate to middle school, your English or Civics teacher will have the dubious pleasure of teaching you.
Nobody’s being brainwashed. And, of course, there are no zombies. Well, there are some on television and in a movie or two.
Hahahaha! That’s the perfect proof you have no idea of what you’re ranting about. What mandates are being given?
The Church Office Building is not a temple. And when the church leadership does meet in a temple, they don’t hide behind curtains; they’re in a room, one presumably equipped with a door.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has temples all around the world. Some of them are quite beautiful. If you’re referring to the Salt Lake Temple, well, it doesn’t seem that different from National Cathedral in DC, esthetically. I lived in the Tri-State Area for years and never heard anyone call the NC hideous.
An aside: You don’t know what the term cult means, do you? Back to your rant!
How is the wealth “ill-gotten”? Did that army of zombies rob banks all over the world?
Do tell which political advertising you’re ranting about.
Wait? You want freedom-loving people to stop someone’s freedom? I think I’m channelling the androids from I, Mudd now.
Lastly: You’re frakking moron.
So Jon Huntsman who just endorsed homosexual marriage, and ultra-conservatives like Glenn Beck not to mention Harry Reid who is in a whole different party are identical politically?
BTW, if you believe this you may wish to read some of Mr. Jack Chick’s exposes of the fiendish Popish plot to take over our fair Protestant Republic.
Kimstu: That post was beautiful. Oops, wait. I guess I’m not supposed to say that yet. You know, what with me being a brainwashed zombie manipulated by a group of old men hiding behind some curtain. You can’t be too careful. I’ll get back to you once I get my orders on the issue of the quality of your post just above.
Another aside: “Obediently obeying” was great. I’ve seen some whoppers from the lunatic fringe, but that one takes the cake. Who wouldn’t want to be obediently obeying the people they’re obeying obediently? I, for one, definitely don’t want to be disobediently obeying. Drat! “Obediently disobeying” just won’t work in that sentence.
I don’t know, I don’t think I’ve ever met an anti-<religion> force quite as strong as somebody who just left that religion. Especially with religions that emphasize missionary work, since they seem to convert that former missionary fervor back the other direction.
Shhhhhhhh Monty, for Pete’s sake! Do you want everybody to know I’m a dirty cringing bootlicker in the pay of Tammany?!? …No, shoot, I mean of the socialist-anarchist Russian Jews—oh hell, where has that calendar got to this time?
…Gotcha! Right, 2013, I knew that. Yes, as I was saying, a dirty cringing bootlicker in the pay of the Mormon Marriott Hotels Masonic Illuminati Satanic Kabbalah sex cult…
wait, what the fuck?.. Well, that’s what it says.
Sheesh, all these successive deaths of democracy just get too complicated. I miss the days of being a dirty cringing bootlicker in the pay of the cowardly sausage-eating Deutschers. At least those German immigrants had some damn fine beer, which I never get nowadays from my new masters in the Mormon Marriott Hotels Masonic Illuminati Satanic Kabbalah sex cult. ![]()
Answering the OP’s questions in order, yes, yes and no.

To be precise, it’s 24 February 2013.
Why, oh, why can’t those frothing loons manage to pen a decent sentence in English? I’m almost completely convinced their actual religion is Thughee, the victim being the English language itself. But it does amuse me somewhat that, in most cases, they elevate the Bible to the level of an idol, if not an actual deity itself, yet they obviously cannot understand the tome because they’re simply not literate.
