Morning Sickness - Fetal Gender Difference?

I wonder if John, in the course of researching Why do pregnant women get morning sickness?, or if anyone else knows if there is any basis to the widely held belief that women who are expecting girls are apt to have more severe morning sickness than women who are expecting boys? (I believe this is considered a function of the “hormone” theory)

I’ve been through two bouts of hyperemesis in connection with my pregnancies. (The one pregnancy when I didn’t have morning sickness ended in miscarriage.) Both times, my doctor (different docs) and several midwives I asked said the same thing: there is no evidence of a correlation between the degree of “morning” sickness a pregnant woman experiences and the gender of the fetus she’s carrying.

I have two boys. I had to be on anti-emetic drugs during part of both those pregnancies. If this theory were true, having a girl would probably kill me :frowning:

Both of mine were/are also boys, so I don’t know.

We may still try for a girl next, so if I ever end up with one, I’ll let you know!!!
