Moronic Cops

I had an entire tirade going here until on preview I saw this little nugget of simplistic elegance. Very well said.

Oh, and Ditto.

Tosser.

That’s just bizarre, and seems to me to defeat the whole purpose of the yellow light, which is to provide a buffer between the green light (when you can go though) and the red light (when you can’t). So, if you’re driving along, heading towards a green light, and it turns yellow a split-second before you enter the intersection, you have to slam on your brakes or get a ticket???

But you aren’t helping the situation by dismissing the OP’s issue, are you? You really don’t think that maybe one of the reasons some cops get away with violating people’s rights in a major way is that they get a pass on the little things?

Drop the hammer! Ludicrous speed!

The OP has more issues than Reader’s Digest. Have you seen this and/or this?

In California (where most of the Burbank police exercise jurisdiction), as long as the driver enters the intersection before the light turns red, and does not stop in the intersection while the light is red, it’s perfectly legal to proceed through an intersection on a yellow light.

Now, “in the intersection” is defined as being beyond the limit line, which is painted on the street. It’s set back behind the crosswalk (if any).

That said, I do not know if there are any subtleties or exceptions to be invoked when the signal is at a parking lot exit instead of an actual street. The difference between private property (a shopping center parking lot) and public property (two intersecting public thoroughfares) might mean that the cops did have a legal reason to stop Stan Schmenge at 3:00 in the morning.

Private and personal to the Burbank PD: Good job, guys! The monthly payments we of the Radical Left have been sending your way to harass and piss off Tighty Righties have clearly been worthwhile. As always, please let us know when and if Mr. Schmenge moves to another jurisdiction, so we may continue to target our efforts most efficiently.

The above is a joke , of course.

How can you fit so much drama into one life? In my 40 years or so of driving I have one speeding ticket, so I must have been framed by the cops right?

The OP is a drama queen with a hard-on for cops. If I saw the OP on the business end of a “Don’t taze me, bro!” in a video on You Tube, I would side with the cops until convinced otherwise. He is the whiny bitch who cried “oppression.”

He made room by tossing out all those unused Wisdom boxes.

They are trying to set him up, man!
[sub]He knows too much![/sub]

Where do the rest exercise jurisdiction?

Lol, I didn’t make the connection. Nevermind.

I wouldn’t go so far as to always take a cop at his or her word. I’ve been on the receiving end of cops misdoings and have seen/read too much on the subject of poor quality cops to do so.

But after realizing who the OP was I’m going to have to agree with you here.

That’s my point- I won’t generally take a “cops are always right” stance, but in this case I’ll gladly make an exception!

Regarding yellow lights, I think–and could be wrong–that drivers who proceed through the yellow can be ticketed in Virginia if someone ahead of them in an adjacent lane was able to safely stop in time.

See that is where you are wrong. Our esteemed OP has more issues than the Reader’s Digest, Time, Life, Newsweek, and the National Geographic put together.
I would call him a troll, but that would be an insult to under bridge dwellers everywhere.

That’s an ad hominem attack. Having more issues than any popular magazine doesn’t mean that policemen can stop him at their whim - supposing, of course, that the story is true. If things happened as he described, and I cannot tell, the cop could have thought something was iffy and wanted to have a look at Stan Shmenge, ok, but still… The OP may be a bother/a troll/a whiner or whatever (I cannot honestly say), but should it affect your view of the situation?

Yes, well… there are homini and then there are homini, Your Honor…

It was a while back and I have consulted my better half, she says I got it wrong.

Turn Red While UNDER the light, ticket for running yellow.
Turn red before passing the light, ticket for running red.

My apologies, getting old.
