That explains why it took me three days to get served in Fopp.
Yeah. Where in my message did I state that embarrass was synonymous with hate? Since when did making a textual interpretation that may apply in one case become equivalent to “synonymous”? Doesn’t synonymous act as a constant comparison, as opposed to a one time reading of interpretation?
I mean hey, if you want to ignore the message and engage in word games, enjoy yourself.
If I applied an edifice to your comedownance, would it make you feel better? Or would it still be gimpy?
Apparently, Morrissey’s comments were something like: “Ronald Reagan has died. . . . pity it wasn’t George Bush.” Vintage Moz-humor.
What gets me about this whole hoopla is how hypersensitive some Americans are about any criticism of Bush or the situation in Iraq. Drudge facilitates this so much–if a blogger or a celebrity or whoever makes a negative comment, he links to the story and sics his readers on them. And most of the posters admitted they didn’t know who Morrissey was. Nothing wrong with that, but then why complain about him?
I can never understand people who write complaint letters just because someone tells them or encourages them to do so. I’ve see this situation in both conservative and liberal causes, but the current “back Bush at whatever cost” crowd is particularly tiresome.
Look, it’s Morrissey’s JOB to say things like that, okay? Look at it that way. He’s a sort of a subsidised court fool.
And this just as I finish editing his latest CD for radio broadcast…
Is anyone honestly surprised at this news? I just hope he’s somewhat mature about this if a Dixie Chicks/Toby Keith type situation comes up.
Whoah! Totally excellent!

Because they’re stupid?
Alternate theory: Because they’re REALLY, REALLY stupid?
Yeah, he’d better watch his step or American radio stations will pull his albums off airplay!
Oh… wait…
