Morrowind. Good?

SPOOFE, spoil me please. Just slightly though.

I just got the game this weekend, and while I keep getting out of Seyda Neen, I keep restarting after tweaking character design. I’ve done several quests in Seyda Neen

Murdered Tax Collector, Thieves’ Cave, Fargoth’s Ring, Fargoth’s cash. I found the Cave to be rather small and pointless. Are there others? I’m about to leave, figured I’d walk to Balmora so I can level up along the way, but if there is more to do, I’d like to bleed that city dry.

Absolutely, there’s more.

Head down the road from Seyda Neen- I believe it’s West- the direction opposite from the Siltstrider. After a short distance, like 2-3 turns of the road, you’ll see a book lying on the ground and hear screaming from above. Loot the body when it appears- the sword you get from it is the best weapon you’ll find for a while, and allows you to clear out the local crypts.

More things to do in Seyda Neen:

Don’t forget the sunken ship just offshore to the southeast (it’s on the map that came with the game).

When you do the bit Lightnin’ mentioned, be sure to read the book, then look at what the scrolls do. I found it quite amusing.

Damn. I’m picking this puppy up!

Okay. I’ve been playing for a while. (thanks all again for the input. I’ll go track down System Shock as well).

My three favorite moments so far:

  1. Coming out of the big crab in Ald’ruhn and stepping out into a big old Dust storm. It was very cool. Everyone walking around with their arms up shielding their eyes and what not. (except me, strangely. Maybe I have clear eyelids)

  2. Bribing up the Adventurer Outfitter feller in Balmora to 100, thereby making him my fence of choice. I sold him a whole bunch of exquisite clothes I’d boosted from some slackjawed nobleman and when I clicked out of the barter mode, I noticed that my man was now wearing the best of the lot.

and 3. Well, I can’t get into three right now because I just realized I don’t know how to do the spoiler thing. {I don’t see it listed in the stuff up above. Do I need enhanced VB code?} Let us just say it involves the Assassin’s guild, some poison, and finding a trapdoor to sneak in after casing the joint for quite some time.

OK, I can’t kill jack shit. I tried making a thief and making a mage, and both of them are getting their asses handed to them. Just got it last night, so I didn’t go exploring too much, but I was trying to investigate the cave just east of the starting town. I tried fighting the guy in the cave and got killed no matter what I threw at him. I also found another entrance to the cave where some undead bastards are using the spark spell on me and kicking my ass.

Tonight I am going to try making a fighter and seeing what I can do with that, or making a hardcore theif and trying to bypass combat as much as possible.

Be patient. You don’t have to explore the game in any particular order. Smuggler’s caves and ancestral tombs should wait until you’re higher level (usually around 6th or 8th, at least). Go to Balmora and do some quests for the Thieves’ and Mages’ Guilds for a while.

And follow my previous spoiler about the Fighter’s Guild in Ald’ruhn. It’ll make your life a lot easier…

OK, I’ve whipped up a new theif, and I must admit that I’ve rather grown fond of ripping people off. I also managed to have some tolerable strength, so I actually could kill some humans (tax collector sequence).

Need some help with the cave just east of the stilt rider, if anyone can.

I’ve gone in there and looted the place, killed all three guys in there, and unchained the slaves. But no one cares, even though in town they bitch about the slaves. Who do I have to talk to about this?

I am thoroughly enjoying this game, and I will be excited to join the theives guild in Balmora.

Just to let everyone know, the first official patch is now available.

It apparently fixes some bugs, adds an “auto-run” feature, and adds a health bar for your opponents, among other things.
