Mortadella and plastic casing

New supermarket opened up near my office. Went to the deli counter and got a quarter pound of mortadella (Boar’s Head brand, I think) for a sandwich. Back at my desk, I was dismayed to find that each slice of mortadella still had the plastic casing, which had to be peeled off.

Is this normal? I thought that the casing was supposed to be pulled back to expose the meat before slicing… is this not possible for some brands of mortadella? Or was this just a mistake?

New store, new staff. Deli staff needs more training

Definitely not normal in my experience. Next time you visit, you should complain (politely, of course) to the manager. He or she should at least offer your next purchase free of charge (and, hopefully, plastic casing  ).
