Awhile back, someone posted a link to a website in which you could upload a pic file, and it would generate a mosaic of the file to the scale of your choosing (so an 8 X 11 photo could become a 24 X 33 or whatever) and you could then print the images out using your printer and “stitch” them all together to have a much larger picture. Best part of all, it was cheap. I can’t find the thread now, and my google fu isn’t up to the task of finding the site, so I’m hoping that someone who remembers the thread or knows of the site can help me out.
I dunno if this fits your description, but is it the Rasterbator?
It was I who posted the link, and it indeed was the Rasterbator. It’s overrated. The final product looked like shit, for me anyway. If you want it to look good, you must print it at extremely high resolution.
Am I missing something here? I can take a huge image and print it out on 8.5x11 paper without going through anyone’s web site. What do they do that I can’t do?
I think it’s the “scale of your choosing” part, rather than just straight printing out the .jpg file.
That’s it. Thanks.
It turns it into large dots. You can run an image through it to see what I mean because it’s kind of hard to explain. Just think laser printer circles, but varying in size depending on brightness.
