I at one time had no interest in having kids, and later changed my mind. I’ve never been interested in having 14 of them-- I was quite happy to have one and done, but it certainly is possible to change one’s feelings over time.
For men, it apparently can even depend on the women he’s with. I’ve heard a lot of stories of men having children with more than one woman, and being absolutely devoted to one set of children, while barely being able to disgorge the court-ordered child support for the other.
There may be women like that too-- devoted to children by one father, and not another-- I’ve just never heard of a situation like that, and I’ve heard over a dozen actual stories of the former.
