As President, Trump has made easily falsified statements such as those about the size of and weather at his inauguration crowd, has made unsubstantiated claims like the supposed “three to five million illegal votes” that cost him the popular vote, and refused to shake the hand of the head of state of a key strategic ally in front of cameras.
Trump ran “Trump University LLC” until 2010 when it was found that it was not qualified as university under New York state law, and that Donald Trump did not apply for a business license; the name was changed to “Trump Entrepreneurial Institute”, although it was still promoted as “Trump University”. In November 2016 Trump trump settled a suit with the state of New York and two class action lawsuits for a total of $25 million while claiming that this was not an admission of liability.
Trump has licensed his name to companies producing vodka, online steaks (sold through The Sharper Image stores), and presciently, “Golden Ale”. All of these brands are defunct, along with his airline and air taxi service, a modeling agency, a short-lived bike race, a mid-level marketing supplement company, his alternative football league and team, and a home mortgage that opened in 2006, just prior to the mortgage housing crisis.
