Most Atttractive Head of State in the World

(Also include “head of government” to allow for prime ministers.)

I nominate Benazir Bhutto of Pakistan and Gloria Macapagal Arroyo of the Philippines as tied for first place.

Does Queen Rania count? Because I nominate her.

I was always fond of Grace Kelly of Monaco. And Princess Joor of Jordon. But that was then . . .
After them, the rest are not worth talking about.

I like Junichiro Koizumi. Loved that hair.

A PM is not a head of state, is he/she?

Hmmm…Is Fox still President of Mexico? (Or did I just dream him?)

A PM is not a head of state, at least not in Westminster parliamentary systems. He or she is the head of government. (Although who are you going to say? Jean Chretien??)

I also think Queen Rania is the best. She should be allowed to count as she is so fit.

Another vote for Queen Rania. Even if she isn’t head of state/government.

My vote is for my current ruler Sheikh Zayed

Damn, Sheikh Zayed is a handsome chap, isn’t he!

We should never forget the lovely Eugenia Charles, former Prime Minister of Dominica, and the world’s first black female leader.

Er… OK she was never really ‘lovely’, but in the 60s she did once wear a pink swimming costume into Parliament to protest restrictive dress regulations, which I don’t think many heads of state have done before.

Oh my God, I just did a google search on Queen Rania al-Abdullah. She is absolutely gorgeous. My vote is cast.

Then there’s Queen Nefertiti, who was also a hottie.

Surely not Little Johnny Howard* of Australia. He was once described as a “boring little two-dimensional accountant-person”.
*Warning. This photo is HOT HOT HOT!!!

istara just vomited after following TheLoadedDog’s link

That said, the son of of former Australian leader Paul Keating is pretty freaking HOT…

I see your studly John Howard and raise you Ireland’s Charlie McCreevy (Charlie’s the one on the right. On the left is gorgeous pouting Bertie Ahern, the PM), who is competing for the title of “Europe’s Hottest Finance Minister” against the stunning Wim Duisenberg.

I’ve always be a bit gaga over Nelson Mandela.

If Rania were a reigning queen instead of a royal consort, then absolutely. Hands down. No contest. She’s the one. I was just reading this morning about the ancient reigning queens of Arabia (including much of Jordan). The Queen of Sheba is the most famous, but there are Assyrian tablets from the 6th century B.C., the very first recorded mention of “Arabs,” in fact, telling of the feisty queens of northern Arabia, proud Arab queens like Zabibi and Samsi, who continually rebelled against Assyrian suzerainty. There were many queens ruling there; apparently it was more normal in that time and place for women to reign instead of men. The second most famous ancient Arabian queen was Zenobia of Palmyra, Syria, who led a rebellion against the Roman Empire. Defeated, she was brought to Rome in golden chains and then retired in peace to a Roman villa where she lived out her days.

So all this is to say that, given the weight of history, Rania ought to be a reigning Arab queen!

You meant Zorro surely?

Ha! To think that I obtained a poli sci degree with honours not two years ago. In comparative politics which makes this even worse. Must remember to dash my response off to McGill post-haste except I’m afraid that they’ll take back my degree. Well, I will excuse myself on the basis as having been in the middle of outlining Equitable Servitudes when I posted that. I’m sure in a year or two you all will catch me referring to them as appurtenant easements.
