Here’s the thing. I’ve had bacon wrapped stuffed Anaheim peppers twice at a local joint.
I’m kinda addicted. So my Mid-dau says she’s gonna try replicate the filling.
She was going by the grocery, sez she’d pick up cheap cream cheese to practice with. Well…she comes home with this weaponized cream cheese pie no-bake stuff.
To hear the chaos it caused in my kitchen was awesome. Many ideas floated by, “what can you NOT do with this stuff!”
I like the descriptions of the filling as sold. As the OP said, it does seem excessively sweet. I wonder if zesting some lemon peel and a little cinnamon could be good on it in my springboard pan.
I think I might make a homemade recipe with maybe a granulated monk fruit/allulose blend. I think I would add it to the Philadelphia tub and double the recipe, if half the town is coming over to my place.
My use of cream cheese is mainly on bagels, not familiar with the no bake blend of cc. But I did see a reel for it yesterday. For dessert take a store bought angelfoodncake chopped up and covered with canned red fruit then layer cool whip and this no bake cc and topped with fresh red fruit. Chill then dish out.
Can I dish on Dave’s killer bread here, the sugar inside why? And I’m flat out not buying it anymore. Every loaf recently has a spongy texture even when toasted. I don’t like how the slices stick together in the bag and if I’m paying $6 plus for a loaf it should be double wrapped.
Sugar in Greek yogurt too, I’m gonna start buying it plain and add honey or something.
The “good seed” version makes a great pb&j sandwich. There’s enough sugar in the filling that a mildly sweet bread goes well, and I like the added texture.
I never bake cream cheese. And cream cheese isn’t usually sweet. Is this thread about a no bake cheesecake filling?
Your OP said it’s “Philadelphia cream cheese no bake in a tub” while a later post by you said “Name exactly is ‘Philadelphia cream cheese No-bake pie.’”
The larger point is why are you surprised that a prepared filling for a sweet pie is sweetened?
I just wanted to warn folks. This stuff is the “most dangerous substance on earth”.
Because, I believe it is.
According to the family, I hear these words: “magical, light and creamy, easy to dip, the best thing I ever tasted, better than cream cheese icing. Best thing since sex.”
I was lost thinking they’d started to add sugar to cream cheese. Now that i understand it’s cheesecake filling, I’m found. Glad to know it’s delicious. I’ll probably avoid the danger by not buying it.
