Just don’t drink either on ice. Watering it down totally sucks.
Diet Dr Pepper aficionado here. I generally don’t like sugar-sweetened drinks and really never have.
DDP is the closest to its sugary counterpart that I’ve found.
And, no,it should be served cold, but not on ice.

I enjoy both Diet and regular Dr Pepper.
But I prefer Mr. Pibb to either. A solid, working-class drink. I’m not impressed by Pepper and his fancy degrees.
peewee_RotA, I think you’ll find Jolt has more caffeine than Dr Pepper. As does Mountain Dew (note no ‘.’)
Re caffeine content in Dr. Pepper-
Straight from The Straight Dope:

Caffeine content of all your favorite soft drinks:

Even RC Cola has more caffeine then Dr Pepper. Dr Pepper is high in caffeine but not the highest by a long shot. There are 28mg of caffeine in Dr Pepper vs 31 mg in TAB, 35mg in Mellow Yello and 43mg in Sun Drop. (8 ounce servings.)
Per the FDA the most caffeine allowed in a 8 ounce soft drink is 36mg.
Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!
What I meant to say was:
Per the FDA the most caffeine allowed in an 8 ounce soft drink is 48mg.
(how could Mellow Yellow have 43 if the most allowed is 36?)
They don’t taste the same, but Diet Dr. is the only diet drink I can stand. After a case of it, in fact, I find the regular Dr. Pepper too sweet, until my taste buds revert to form.
Hmm odd… my friend did research on Soft drinks… Mt. Dew had 26 mg of cafien and Dr Pepper had 48!
O.k. someone is lieing and I’m pissed off that I’ve been drinking dp beliveing it would keep me up
But this is my research…
Mt. Dew, causes GIANT sugar high that goes away in 5 minutes leaving you dead to the world
Dr Pepper causes slow but effective caffien to surge through the body keeping you up longer and alive and alert more often…
Also I’ve stayed up all night on one, count em’ one can of Dr Pepper, something that not even an entire 2 liter bottle of Mt. Dew can acomplish!
I think that research givin earlier is a little off
If you are talking about my research, you don’t have to believe it. But, I am going to trust the National Soft Drink Association more then some friend. I checked several other web sites and they all confirmed that Dr Pepper has less caffeine then Mountain Dew. The exact amount of course depends on the size of the drink.
According to this web site a 12oz Mountain Dew contains 54mg of caffeine and a 12oz Dr Pepper contains 41mg. In the first link I quoted the 8oz bottle. http://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/caff.html
If you would like to post your friend’s research I would love to see it.
