That is pretty disturbing. It may out-disturb the anti-smoking PSA where the kid coughs up a lung at dinner with his girlfriend’s family and the dog jumps up on the table and grabs it.
Did you link to the right video? I didn’t see anything disturbing at all.
It’s just a living piggie bank with the slot where his brain should be. What’s so disturbing about that?
Now this is a disturbing PSA.
All I can think about is The Amityville Horror.
Me too. Was it meant to be the financial literacy one? Is it the man with a piggy bank head that is supposed to be disturbing? I am not seeing it…kind of silly but not disturbing.
I can’t find the longer one that’s playing on hulu. Three different scenes with the pig-man-beast intruding on strangers’ privacy, going “Feed the pig” or “Feed me” while you have no earthly idea what this is supposed to be about. Until the end when it makes the piggy bank analogy. Up until then I expected his eyes to suddenly glow red while he hoarsely whispered GETTTT OUTTTT!
 Fuck, **that **was disturbing.
As for the OP, did you link to the right video? I’m confused, there’s nothing disturbing about it. I was expecting the guy to get hit by the truck or something.
That one is terrifying. There was a thread awhile back about PSAs like that and there are some VERY realistic/graphic car wreck ones. I am kind of glad they don’t play those on TV here in the states; at least I have never seen one.
Nothing disturbing about that one at all. Except maybe that it actually made me stop and think for a second about how if I give myself an extra 5 minutes each morning to make breakfast rather than buy it at the deli, I’d be saving $$$ like mad.
Then again, I didn’t feel the outrage for that lost kid PSA that became the most controversial thing EVER (and I believe had a BBQ thread in the hundreds of pages on here)
Not as disturbing as this one.
Is that a driver’s ed film?
Although I consider myself a horrible, evil person, I like a good PSA that throws death in your face.
There’s that one (I think that is for Onstar or whoever) where the SUV teen driver pulls a head on crash while reading texts. I liked the second one in this thread where the UK teen hits somebody and the long term accident scene stuff. I really liked the next one with the soccer team, but then it just got silly with the Benny Hill thing.
Back to my point: I want to see blood on the TV screens. Because it will only make people pay attention. I have several friends who are bad drivers and get bugged at me because I ask them to not phone, text, or to slow down or whatever while they are driving. I just don’t want to die yet.
I always thought This One was pretty disturbing. Not in a blood and guts sense.
By all accounts it was a reasonably effective campaign - it certainly got people talking at the time.
When listening to the info in the voiceover, you have to keep in mind that it was from the early eighties.
MODERATOR WHISTLES FOR ATTENTION:
Hey, folks, please do NOT post a link and just say “this is disturbing” without saying generally wnat it is. Posting a link and saying, “See this” doesn’t help other readers decide whether to watch or not. Is it a video? Is it loud? Is it gory? Etc.
I’m assuming some of these links are not Workplace-safe, for instance? In that case, they need to be un-parsed or something so that no one clicks accidentally.
Please be considerate of other readers.

There is a video podcast called Best Ads on TV that features a lot of PSAs that, frankly, are heartbreaking and graphic, at least in comparison to the relatively tame PSAs that most Americans are used to.
It was a British PSA about texting while driving.
Hmmm, my notions of what’s out there were way off. I was looking on YouTube for the PSA with the dog and the lung and found a lot of disturbing stuff. Though the one where the lungs jump out of the guys mouth and crawl across the dirty cafe floor and out the door seemed funny.
People talking out of holes in their throats is definitely disturbing.
But getting back to the OP…I do still find the piggy insisting you shove coins into his skull very weird, so maybe file that under “PSAs that don’t seem intended to be disturbing but are.”
