Most exotic weapon you've ever used.

What is the most exotic weapon, firearm or not, you have ever used? (Yes, I’m fully expecting this to be taken over by Ren Faire people and military personnel/veterans. I’m looking forwards to it. :))

I have fired an AK-47, but not full-auto. I don’t recall the caliber right now, but fired NATO rounds so it might not have been fully faithful to the original Soviet design in that respect, either. The general coolness of this gun made even more of an impression on me given that I have only ever fired a handful of firearms in my life, most of them taking .22 caliber rounds (for those of you not acquainted with American standards, the .22 is barely able to kill small mammals and is usually used in weapons considered inexpensive and uninteresting by most hunters).

The AK-47 is a historically significant weapon: It’s used widely throughout Eurasia, especially in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, mainly via Soviet-era arms dealings and Soviet military actions in those regions. It is generally considered one of the most rugged weapons ever designed, and can be given to largely untrained irregulars as a credible weapon to use against better-equipped American forces. It has been widely copied and is probably being mass-produced in a variety of nations.

From my experience with it, it has little recoil and little noise. It is a rather light weapon, and I could go through a thirty-round clip standing with no discomfort. I’m not an accurate shot, so I can’t comment on that aspect. I enjoyed it immensely.

So, who else has an interesting weapon to brag about?

Hey! I got to shoot an AK once myself. Only a semi, like yours, but still pretty fun. That same day the guy had a .44 that looked like an old cowboy gun–I don’t know if it had any kind of proper name, but that thing kicked my hiney! Talk about recoil from hell…

YTSL shooting 1914 X7’s. (Though I don’t suppose that counts as particularly exotic, as bows go.) Firearms are nasty loud toys, and you’ll have someone’s eye out with them if you’re not careful.

Hmmmm, I would have to say the MK-19 automatic grenade launcher. Also I 've fired the M203 grenade launcher, M-4 Carbine, M-16A2, a S.A.W., 9 MM (not to exotic), and an M2 .50 Cal. Not very exotic for a military career but it still impresses most civillians.

My wit and my razor-sharp tounge.

Tomahawk cruise missile.

Various types of spear guns.

The Bo Staff. An old fashioned, ordinary (6 foot long) stick.

Hey, smart bombs and fully-automatic weapons are common place, the ole stick ain’t as common as it used to be

hmm… fired most US military stuff; M-16, M-2HB M-60 and M-249 MGs, all good. Firing a LAW was pretty wild. Imagine taking a piece of PVC pipe and setting off an M-80 in it. firing a 105 mm howitzer was COOL. But the best were the explosives. C-4, TNT and my favorite the road cratering charges. Det cord wrapped around trees to cut’em down was fun too. I like things that go boom.

Okay, Mr. Moto wins so far.

Me? When I was kid, we used to make mud balls, stick them onto the ends of 3’ long sticks, and fling them at each other.

Fortunately, we weren’t too accurate…

Standard low-caliber Army firearms and grenade launcher.

My penis.

The most exotic weapon I ever truly used AGAINST someone was a metal chain.

I was about 10 and I happily enjoying “The Bluebird of Happiness” with Shirley Temple. My 11 year old brother walked into the room and changed the channel. I told him to turn it back; he wouldn’t. The obligatory fisticuffs ensued.

I was so filled with righteous indignation, I became a wild woman. I picked up a heavy metal dog chain from the table and just started beating the crap out of my brother with it. THWACK! THWACK! I had suffered for years from his bullying and I had had ENOUGH. I saw actual fear in his eyes before he finally escaped.

And after that day, he left me alone.

Gorgon: My penis mightier than the sword, but I do believe it’s trumped by a firearm.

PunditLisa, perhaps you needed “The Bluebird of Happiness”. Wow.

Oh, and now that I notice, I was using a magazine, not a clip. I don’t think any AK-47 will accept a clip. (The distinction was drilled into my head once. I am surprised it slipped by me in the creation of the OP.)

Hmm. 105mm and 120mm tank main guns. 155mm tube artillery. 5 and 25 pound shaped charges. I, too, am a big fan of things that go “BOOM”.

I’ve also fired the SA80 (British rifle), FAL, M2HB, M60, M240, M16, M9, 1911a1, etc…

But the most exotic would have to have been a “Field Flame Expedient”, or when the army taught me to make something close to napalm and the best methods to use it.

Seeing as how I’m not from Idaho, I guess my potato gun is fairly exotic. Who needs gunpowder when you’ve got Final Net?

The danish army still uses a machine gun (called MG/62) that is pretty close to the original german MG-42 and I have fired that on numerous occations.

I got to touch an LGM-30 Minuteman III missile as it sat in the silo, once.

Use it? Hoo boy, I hope not. . .

Tripler
I touched a nuke. Who wants to shake my hand?

A 4 gauge smooth-bore Belgian Percussion Elephant Gun. Loaded with an actual ramrod. I destroyed a 6-inch diameter sapling and nearly destroyed my shoulder.

Shot lots of stuff–

most interesting was the .44 Mag pistol. BOOM BOOM! Heh heh heh, that thing was seriously overpowered.

hmm My own AK-47 I spose, It came with a 40rd and 2 5rd mags.
I just bought a 30 rounder for 80 rounds of firepower, oh I’m thinking of buying a brasscatcher and a bi-pod so it’ll look exotic…

No its not a true Soviet AK its a Bulgarian “SLR-95” so I dont consider it to be too exotic JMO…
