Tabasco
Lao Gan Ma spicy chili crisp (probably the most versatile, goes well on anything)
S&B Chili Oil with Crunchy Garlic (also very versatile)
Gringo Bandito original. Really good all around sauce
Gator Hammock Gator Sauce
I’d like it better if it had less vinegar.
(Frank’s red hot. Hit reply instead of quote on tapatalk.)
Cholula
Sriracha
Cholula Chipotle
Franks
But limiting it to just a few kind of sucks the fun out of life.
Something like Nando’s Piri Piri sauce is great and flavourful.
I know it doesn’t peel the skin right off of one’s tongue, but I like Texas Pete hot sauce. It gives stuff just that little bit of oomph.
If you go to Bostons, they have a hot sauce called Jach Ki. It is Maya for very flavorful. It is made in the Yucatan. About 30 miles from me.
It has two primary ingredients, chile habanero and carrot. Awesome. Bostons doesn’t sell the sauce, at least here in Mexico. So, you may have to boost it.
Give it a try.
That’s Yellowbird sauce. Habs and carrots, and some other stuff.
My personal goto is rooster sauce, but I usually have Cholula and Tapatio on hand as well.
After some perusal I think I’ll give the Yellowbird a try. That looks like a great blend of flavors.
Anybody have a Thai sweet chili recommendation?
I guess my thinking is that if I’m specifically looking to add a hot sauce flavor, then it’s probably Sriracha or Cholula that I reach for. If the dish needs something, and it strikes me that it’s missing something, then Frank’s is usually the go-to.
It’s more multidimensional than most hot sauces- it’s vinegary, peppery AND garlicky.
I happen to really like the garlic (yes, I know there’s a Tabasco with garlic, and it’s pretty good, but I prefer the Frank’s).
Nando’s Extra Hot Peri Peri (is delicious)
Nando’s Extra EXTRA Hot Peri Peri
Nando’s Hot Peri Peri
Tabasco when all the above have run out
Well, yes and no.
There IS a garlic Tabasco. But it is NOT just regular Tabasco with some garlic in it. It has different peppers in it. And it shows in the taste.
If I had to pick ONE sauce for the rest of my life, the garlic “tabasco” would be it. Well, that and one reasonable hotter than shit sauce so I could get the heat level of any meal up to snuff when needed.
Find you a bottle of the stuff. You’ll like it.
Enjoying scrambled cheesy eggs with Cholula lime as I type this.
A perfect combo.
