Most obviously surgically enhanced actors/actresses

Melanie Griffith’s mouth looks like mine did when I got stung on the inside of my upper lip by a yellow jacket who was hiding in my wine cooler. Why a man as handsome as her husband would want to kiss something that looks that awful, when he could be kissing me…

Side note, because I’m watching CSI right now:

My mum thinks Marg Helgenburger (Catherine Willows on the show) has had some work done on her face. I think the actress has aged naturally (and beautifully, IMHO). Any verdicts?

Has she had work done? I saw Flight Plan the other night and was thinking how good she looks for 42 without looking the least bit artificial.

On the horror side, Loni Anderson isn’t allowed near small dogs or pregnant women these days, and of course Farrah has had more work done than Darth Vader.

Uhm, are we allowed to link to nude photos?

If so, here is. (NOT WORK SAFE) http://www.billysbigload.com/netpondcash/celebs.uncovered/34/pics/05.jpg

If not, disable it for me, please, mods.

I had heard that she had implants, and seeing this pic I assumed it was true. They could be natural, I suppose (the half-a-grapefruit look always throws me off).

If they’re real, go Liv!

Well, I don’t have any billing records, but it’s clear she had some (very good) work done on her nose over the years. I suppose anything beyond that could just as well be credited to good genetics and a healthy lifestyle. I certainly don’t mean to knock her, I think she is great.

What’s her name–Jeri Ryan?–of Star Trek Voyager fame. I saw her recently and the bulge in those gargantuan implants was really noticeable.

Not that guys really care…

Some do.

I’ve found the exact opposite. Often they’ll take two pictures from different events that were taken at different angles with different lighting and claim plastic surgery.

It’s not a very credible site.

Pam circa '92.

It’s difficult to find pictures of her that are safe, or on work safe sites… but if you look at a face shot of her when she was on Home Improvement or her first time in Playboy, you can see some obvious differences. Her nose always stands out to me. I thought she had an adorable nose.

sleeepy, no, we don’t permit direct links to nudity or any site that’s not workplace-safe. It’s not that we’re trying to censor such links, it’s that many of our posters are reading the boards at work, and it is possible (fairly easy) to accidentally click on a link. And Murphy’s Law says that when such an inadvertent click occurs, your boss will be walking by at exactly that moment.

So, we allow the link as long as it can’t be reached accidentally. Thus, a two-click link (one click might be accidental, but not a second) or providing the url but not making it a link (so someone has to consciously cut-and-paste) are the accepted ways of providing sites that involve sex, nudity, etc.

Agreed. Their criteria for declaring that someone has had work done doesn’t seem very stringent.

My vote for the worst work goes to Joan Rivers. There’s something eerie about a 70 year old Long Island yenta who looks like an asian chipmunk. You know you look bad when your drag queen impersonators look better than you do.

How can anyone think that having a trout pout makes them look sexy?

Jodie Foster?!?!? Say it ain’t so.

I’d say it ain’t so. Some people will say someone famous has had work done when they have a picture taken with a new shade of lipstick  .

It’s always broken my heart that Jennifer Grey got that little shiksa nose that completely ruined her looks.

Awful Plastic Surgery really, really doesn’t seem very credible for a lot of their pronouncements. They don’t take into account makeup or lighting, natural weight loss or gain, or different camera angles. One page I saw declared that someone had gotten a nose job when the two pictures were obviously taken about 15-20 years apart and your nose and ear cartilage grows continually throughout your lifetime. Of course your nose changes shape over 20 years, it has grown a bit. Quite a few of the people they say have had some surgery I don’t think actually have.

On the other hand, the difference between Pamela Anderson as the Tool Time Girl and the Pam Anderson of later years is pretty darn striking. You’d have to be blind not to see the substantial changes she’s made to her face and body, and deliberately enhanced with makeup and clothing.

The Kenny Rogers thing I don’t see. My dad’s face has aged in much the same way. His nose got a bit broader and his cheeks are plumper (much like his gut) which keeps him from getting cheek wrinkles. Decent lighting and makeup would make even my dad’s eye creases from decades of outdoor work less noticeable or even practically invisible to a camera. I don’t buy that he’s “had work done” unless he’s actually said he has.

I agree that they’re pretty quick to jump on minor changes in appearance and claim plastic surgery, but I’ll be honest: I don’t care who got a little nip and tuck here or there, I go there for the freaks.

The first time I noticed - with great sadness - that Andie McDowell had had her 3d bits enlarged was when I saw a photograph of her at the aptly-named Golden Globes.

I’m wondering whether one of my favorite morning news presenters, CNN’s Carol Costello, might have cheekbones not found in nature. What do y’all think?

Carol 2000
Carol 2002
Carol 2004
Carol 2005

My future vote goes for the brother of the actress mentioned in the OP…Alexis Arquette, if he goes through with the surgery.
