I’d say it’s pretty much a toss up between Rich Eisen & Stuart "BOOOOOOOOOO-----YYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Scott.
I have never cared for Chris Berman and his idiotic name game.
Yeah I’m REALLY tired of Chris’s nickname schtick, but he really doesnt seem to have a smug arrogance about him that other anchors do.
Plus he does Sportscenter MAYBE 20 times a year these days. Plus he and Tom Jackson are REALLY good on the NFL highlight show on Sunday nights.
Craig Kilborn: not as idioitic a nomination as it sounds. The odd thoughtful guest that tries to engage him in conversation about his days at ESPN gets nothing but derision. Craig is so “over” that and so above that and so beyond that. He really is emabarassed to admit he used to do that gig.
And he is rather pompous in a self-effacing way, if that is possible.
If there were going to be a pompous jerk competition, the other candidates wouldn’t even show up because the tiara and tropy would have already been FedExed to Kilborn’s office.
::sigh:: Such a jerk. Why, why must he be so nice to look at?
He hasn’t done SportsCenter in years, though - unless I’ve just been really, really, really lucky in not seeing him. He has his supersucky Late, Late, Late, Late Show, doesn’t he? Or something.
Chris Berman’s not pompous, exactly, he’s just blustery. You know, like the Skipper on Gilligan’s Island. Sometimes he’s so full of bluster he can’t get the words out and just stammers.
Oh, I assumed this was an “of-all-time” kind of thing. Never mind.
[sub][sup]Kilborn is still the Once and Future Jerk, though.[/sub][/sup]
I would agree with previous answers and say Craig Kilborn. While he is a jerk and full of himself, that’s what makes him so fun to watch. He’s just so unbelieveably arrogant, and it’s funny.
Well, what about Kenny Mayne? What an appropriate name for a man who’s hair gets wackier with every show…
Rich Eisen? With the depth of anchors to choose from, you pick Rich Eisen?
Stuart Scott and Chris Berman are now absolute caricatures of an anchor. It now seems like neither offers anything during a highlight other than a string of outdated, unfunny, or unintelligible catchphrases that serve to do nothing other than distract from the clip being shown while trying to overshadow the show with big neon signs pointing at themselves that say “Hey, look at me! I can be funny! I am smart, witty, and irreverent! You all know you watch to hear my inane coments! LOVE ME!!!”
I am sorry, the once and future jerk will always be Keith Olberman. Take the whole “I am much bigger than this stupid job” Kilborn attitude and double it. He just didn’t succeed in his spinoff like Craigy.
I would definetly have to go with Stuart Scott. If I were a graduate of UNC when he was asked to speak at graduation, I would have went bananas.
Although a close second would have to be Dave Revsin, who has the absolute worst voice I have ever heard on TV–a kind of Donald Duck on a little helium.
One last parting shot–Pam Ward is a MAN, baby, yeah!
Another vote for Keith Olberman. He was a gajillion times more arrogant than Kilborn. I felt like it was all he could do to contain his disdain for speaking to sports fans and their ilk. I’m so glad I no longer have to listen to that supercilious prick.
Current anchors: Linda Cohn. When did she decide she was hilarious? I don’t recall that 'tude always being there…
If we’re talking all-time, then I pick Kilborn. If we’re talking current, then it’s Kenny Mayne. I will say, however, that I’ve recently been listening to Dan Patrick on ESPN radio and geez does he come across as obnoxious!
