Most shameful guilty pleasure you've ever had

Ah, but you see, he’s <Peter O’Toole in Ratatouille>Pop-u-lar</PO’T> :stuck_out_tongue:

If he’s a “hack” (Freudian Slit’s term), then he’s a hack in the mould of Spielberg. (Or Joss Whedon). (That is to say – fan following, critical acclaim but also detractors, etc).

Cats doesn’t really do it for me – I did enjoy it the one time I saw it live, but the sounctrack isn’t that wonderful (IMO)… Joseph ,Superstar, and Evita on the other hand…

I like shows. It’s not a guilty pleasure, 'cos I don’t feel guilty. 43, male, straight… big fan of the aforementioned ALW shows, plus Chess, Les Mis, Blondel

Although these are a tiny fraction of the songs on my iPod, I confess that I occasionally enjoy:

Avril Lavigne: “When You’re Gone”
Bananarama: “Venus”
The Bangles: “Eternal Flame,” “Walk Like An Egyptian”
Belinda Carlisle: “Circle in the Sand,” “Mad About You”
Bonnie Tyler: “Holding Out for a Hero”
Britney Spears: “Baby One More Time,” “Oops! I Did It Again,” “Stronger”
Captain & Tennille: “Love Will Keep Us Together,” “Wedding Song,” “Come In From the Rain,” “We Never Really Say Goodbye”
Carpenters: “Let Me Be the One,” “Superstar,” “We’ve Only Just Begun,” “Top of the World”
Celine Dion: “To Love You More”
Christina Aguilera: “Hurt,” “Beautiful”
Cyndi Lauper: “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” “She Bop”
Gloria Gaynor: “I Will Survive”
Petula Clark: “Downtown”*
Rex Smith: “You Take My Breath Away”
Starship: “We Built This City”
T’Pau: “Heart and Soul”

*for the Seinfeld connection, I swear. Don’t you judge me!

=Sigh= I’ll probably have to turn in my Man Card now…

I read Sins: Venials. Yes, I know it’s bad, I know the author is annoying male…but I read it anyway.

NETA: It is a webcomic. A poorly drawn, poorly written webcomic. Actually, I’m a bit surprised that it’s the only webcomic I read that I’m ashamed of. I used to read more sucky ones that that.

Downtown’s not a guilty pleasure!

I own the DVD’s. I watched the original just about 3 weeks ago, which stuck this song in my head and has subsequently led to getting caught at a stop light singing my butt off in the car.

You should see what’s in my “Running” playlist on my iPod. I’m sorry, when you know it’s just as far home as it was to get where you are, you need to have whatever keeps you running and devil take the consequences.

Bugsy Malone - saw it in the theater, bought and sang along to the soundtrack. I was 25 years old.

No shame in crushing on young Jodie Foster, but some things are beyond the pale.

Oh god… another one in my DVD cabinet…

Bless you!

I kind of wish I could say I liked Cats. I love the makeup, but I couldn’t sit through it.

I think I may be the only person in the world who likes the Super Mario Bros Movie. I don’t understand why people badmouth it so much. It was fun! Sure it didn’t stick close to the games, but it had enough references, and really how are you going to directly translate them?

It’s not the only cheesy movie I love, but I’m not ashamed of those.

I am mildly ashamed that I love Silverhawks. I’ve watched all the episodes, I know how bad they are, but I still love it and I still think it could be made into serious scifi.

I suppose I’m also mildly ashamed of my love of superhero slash.

Not superheroes, but I’ve made slash fanart.

Whada I win? :smack:

I probably have all of you beat: I love the Twilight series. I love the movie; I love the books. I’ve read and re-read an embarrassing number of times. I know they’re not quality literature (or theatre). I’m very forgiving when it comes to vampire stories.

I’m not one of those maniac Twilight moms (I’m 34) who insist that Bella and Edward are role models for romance. I also don’t compare my husband to the male characters, if that redeems me at all.

Three words: Christian rap music.

I didn’t discover mainstream alternative like Weezer or RHCP or Nirvana until I was 17. (which was in 2000.)

My adult, atheist self still gets DC Talk stuck in my head from time to time.

I win

I’m so glad nobody knows me here so I can tell my shameful secrets…

I own a copy of Staying Alive and watch it about once a year… I know it’s bad but for some reason I love it!

I still have my LP of Lonely hearts club band… by the Bee Gees and Peter Frampton!

what do I win??? (other than shame!!)

Same goes for me. My husband once borrowed my iPod and I’ve never lived it down. I think it was I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That) that got him. Or perhaps it was Eye of the Tiger. Or maybe that song by Bizarre Love Triangle.

[ol]
[li]I had a heavy crush on Helen Reddy, and must have listened to her first album a hundred times. Of course, after “Delta Dawn,” she was dead to me.[/li][li]On my iPod, I have 1) “In the Year 2525” by Zager and Evans, and 2) “MacArthur Park” by Richard Harris. And I listen to them occassionally, too.[/li][/ol]

Ummmm … I used to own a couple of Michael Bolton cassette tapes when I was, I dunno, ten or so. Knew every word to every song. I thought syrupy, melodramatic, overblown and saccharine were requirements for good music.

I’ve never admitted this to anyone. Please don’t tell my friends!

I love One Piece. I have season one.

I have the Super Mario Bros movie as well and I loved Silverhawks when I was young and they were on tv.

Try Stephen King’s 'Salem’s Lot or George R.R. Martin’s Fevre Dream. There’s nothing to forgive; they’re good vampire stories!
