Most shameful guilty pleasure you've ever had

I must be missing something. What’s shameful about that? It’s a good book. I can see how it might be someone’s favorite. And the survival plans? I see that as shameful either. Really good science fiction books inspire people to go off on all sorts of mental tangents. I think that’s why many intelligent people like them so much. I mean, I spend an awful lot of time pondering how I would do the interiors for a movie of The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. Geeky, yes. Shameful, no. (But I’m not so much of a geek that I use a pen and paper for it. I use the draw functions on Microsoft Word. :smack: )

Who doesn’t? Poor Joe never had a chance.

Aw, you don’t like the tween dramas? I do. Drake and Josh is awesome, but even that pales in comparison to the great iCarly. Sam is my hero.

And yes, I’m a huge Miranda Cosgrove fan. I sincerely hope that the young lady graces screens, both large and small, for years to come. (And I REALLY hope she doesn’t pull a LiLo!)

Is it wrong that I’m a little bit turned on right now?

Amen. You may be the only other person I know who thinks Grease II was better than the original. I loved that flick as a kid.

Found it on YouTube. The YouTube description points out that the orchestra is playing in 4/4 time, while the chorus is dancing in 5/4 time. Wow.

Truly outrageous.

I feel guilty for even being able to make that comment.

Hey, I may be strange but that don’t make me a stranger.
My best friend was born in a manger.

I like both Rob Schneider and Pauly Shore movies  They’re adorable.

Did you EVER say that you thought their versions of the songs were better than the Beatles? :smack::smack::smack:

Have you bought the DVD?

I’ve done both. I plead “Teenage Insanity” regarding the first. I have no excuse for the latter. Especially since I did it just last year. I haven’t actually opened it because yet because I can’t talk anyone into watching it with me. They’ve wised up to my “This is SO great!” trick.

I can even THINK about bowling without getting “lets bowl, lets bowl, lets ROCKNROLL!” stuck in my head…

:dubious:

Don’t ever let anyone knock The Craft!

I can’t recall my most shameful guilty pleasure, but here’s my most current: To be honest, I didn’t even know what the hell a Taylor Swift was until about two months ago. Then last week or so, I saw the music video for a song called “You Belong With Me,” and I thought the song and the video were rather pleasant and sweet. It gets worse. I went to the On Demand cable feature, looked up the video, then watched it twice in a row. And now the song is back in my head.

No, no, no. DC Talk is actually some pretty decent music (and Jars of Clay).

However, listening to Michael W. Smith now makes my ears bleed and my eyes water. And I had three of his albums and saw him in concert at least twice in my early 20s.

:::hangs head:::

cough I’ve done both slash fanart and fanfiction. And almost every show I watch I find someone who should be slashed together. (Why is there no Gordon Ramsey / Jean-Philippe slash out there?!)

And I’m supposed to be ashamed of like Jem and the Holograms? Hell, I have nearly all their songs and videos saved. Plus the theme music from Thundercats, two versions of the Thundercats theme, AMVs…

More bad movies I like: Tremors, Virtuosity (it has briefly naked Russell Crowe and Denzell Washington. Yum.), Grease II…

I think the Captain and Tenille cover of “Muskrat Love” is kind of cute and sweet. Note that I speak in the present tense.

Regards,
Shodan

Not shameful at all. Taylor Swift might be marketed by the same machine and in the same way as the passel of talentless pop tarts, but she is genuinely talented and writes for other artists. The New Yorkerhad a profile of her and compared her writing to that of Hank Williams, Prince, Elvis Costello, and Randy Newman.

Nothing to feel guilty about. If you were confessing to a love of a Britney Spears song, then I’d say you had fallen for a successful formula produced by an industry. But Swift is genuine.

When Queen Elizabeth II came to Washington in 1976 to help celebrate the U.S. Bicentennial, C&T played that song for the assembled guests at a White House state dinner hosted by President Ford. A journalist joked that the Queen could be forgiven if she’d then ordered the place burned down a second time.

Is there anyone here who will think even less of me if I confess a love of shows such as: “Whacked Out Sports”, “MXC”, “Destroyed in Seconds”, etc.? I can’t seem to get enough of videos showing explosions, natural disasters, stupid people hurting themselves, etc. Does anyone else here share my shame?

Am I correct in assuming you have a penis?

Dude, I LOVE shows like that (no shame in those, IMHO!), and my decidedly pregnant bod assures that while I like penis, I do not have one.

It is pretty funny to watch the commercials for those shows, though. They are…telling of what they expect their audience to be like.

MXC? A guilty pleasure?? HELL no! It’s teh awesoem.

No, you are not. I’m a female of supposedly mature disposition and comportment. In other words, I’m middle-aged and wear comfortable shoes. But those shows fascinate me. Also, I love watching severe weather video shows. Does this make me a bad person?:dubious:

I play my copy of Trinity and Beyond: The Atomic Bomb Movie to help me get to sleep. Nothing like a lovely orchestral score accompanied by the occasional double-flash through your eyelids to lull you off to dreamland!

Er, is that “shameful” or more “twisted”?

My husband and I tend to default to, when nothing else is on, the Discovery Channel shows that we refer to as “When Nature Attacks”. (For all I know that’s actually the name of one of those series.)
