In the fourth season of Arrested Develoment, Henry Winkler plays lawyer Barry Zuckercorn in the present and recent past, while his son Max Winkler plays the young Barry Zuckercorn in flashbacks.
Before he was the Skipper, Alan Hale Jr was Porthos – and before that, Alan Hale Sr was Porthos. And one of 'em played the cook on a submarine in DESTINATION TOKYO, and the other one played a mess sergeant in BATTLE HYMN.
I’m genuinely surprised that Alan Hale Jr seems to never have played Little John.
Christina Crawford acted on a soap opera. When she was out sick her mother Joan filled in for her despite being 35 years older
In Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back there was a flashback scene showing the two title characters meeting as babies. Kevin Smith cast his daughter Harley to play him as baby Silent Bob.
Mark Harmon plays Leroy Jethro Gibbs on NCIS. One of his sons (with **Pam Dawber **- Mindy in Mork and Mindy) **Sean Harmon **has several times played a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

Nanette Fabray and her daughter Shelly Fabares played kind of similar characters in a lot of one-off sitcom appearances (although Nanette was generally possessed of a broader sense of humor).
Melanie Griffith and Dakota Johnson have both played over-the-top sexpots. In her Eisenhower-era way, so did Melanie’s mom Tippi Hedren.
Raquel Welch and her daughter Tahnee have both played total eye-candy. Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson have taken a slightly higher road, though Kate lacks her mom’s flair for comedy.
Kirk and Michael Douglas have both played a lot of roles that are just a skosh classier than action flicks. (Did Kirk ever play a US President?)
Bob Elliott, Chris Elliott and Abby Elliott are three generations of comedians, but I guess Abby breaks a few links of continuity.
In the current BBC version of Sherlock, Sherlock Holmes’ (Benedict Cumberbatch) parents are portrayed by his real parents Wanda Ventham and Timothy Carlton.

Missed the edit window but also in Sherlock, Dr Watson’s (Martin Freeman) partner Mary is portrayed by his real life partner Amanda Abbington.

Shelley is Nanette’s niece.
Mark Sheppard has been in every genre TV show–currently “Crowley” on the back-from-the-dead (heh) Supernatural. His father, W Morgan Sheppard, has also had an illustrious career.
They played the same character on Doctor Who. Because of time travel!
Both Hanks have also played cops. Tom in Turner and Hootch, Colin in The Good Guys and Fargo.
Not father and son, but the classic film The Long Riders featured 4 sets of brothers playing 4 sets of brothers. The James’s (James and Stacey Keach), the Youngers (David, John and Robert Carradine), the Millers (Randy and Dennis Quaid) and the Fords (Christopher and Nicholas Guest).
In Wetherby (1985), Joely Richardson and Vanessa Redgrave (daughter and mother) played the same character at different ages.
When they were casting the TV show I’ll Fly Away, Jason London was cast in the part of Nathan Bedford. However, Jason had commitments that prevented him from taking the role. His identical twin brother Jeremy (also an actor) was available, however, and played the role during its original run.
When they decided to do a reunion show (to tie up loose ends), Jeremy was unavailable. So Jason stepped into the role.
They were both in Band of Brothers, as a matter of fact. Colin Hanks played Lt. Henry Jones, and Tom Hanks played a British paratrooper officer in an uncredited role (during the party after Easy Co. had rescued the British paratroopers after Market Garden).
In the category of not actually related, but still weird casting, Robert Wagner and Michael Weatherly play father and son Anthony DiNozzo Sr. and Jr on NCIS, and in a bit of weird casting, Weatherly played Wagner himself in “The Mystery of Natalie Wood”- a TV movie about the weird circumstances surrounding Natalie Wood’s death.
In an episode of Magnum P.I., June Lockhart’s daughter Anne played the younger version of her character in flashbacks. They did the same thing later in the movie Troll.
In 1979, Dennis Christopher and Paul Dooley played son and father in a movie called Breaking Away. Then in 2003, they played son and father again in an episode of* Law & Order: Criminal Intent *called “Cherry Red.”
The same character in the same episode, in fact. And the older version appeared before the younger. Timey-whimey wibbly-wobbly. Really, one of the best examples in this thread.
Not exactly an example, but worth mentioning: the picture of the young Red in The Shawshank Redemption is a picture of Morgan Freeman’s son.
Oh, and in Goodfellas, Lorraine Bracco’s own two daughters played her daughters toward the end of the film. They were about 7 and 4. The younger one is also the daughter of Harvey Keitel.
I remember that*** Magnum ***Episode, and it also featured Jose Ferrer as a judge who had been June Lockhart’s lover, along with his son Miguel who played his Dad in flashbacks.
