Yeah, I could have gone back into the store where I work & bought one or maybe some de-icer.

But if I had done that, that would mean the locks had won!
Nah, they had already won when you stodd out in the cold for 15 minutes.

BTW it’s 5:47am here in Milwaukee and out huge snowstorm that was suppposed to start sometime between midnight and 3am is just barely starting. It’s looks like we’ll have a ‘dusting’ in about a half hour or so.
Bah, I’m going back to bed and getting my last hour and a half of sleep.

There’s over an inch now.

Here in Denver, Colorado it was mid 60’s today. The sun is so bright, had to run the A/C in my car. Aahhh Denver weather, America’s best kept secret.
(don’t tell anyone, ok?)

Denver weather is horrible! (says this soCal exile…) Have you forgotten the last two winters? Cold. Snow. More cold. More snow.

(PS–what does Fugazi mean? I saw it on a license plate recently. Was that you?)

Well, I got lucky today. I was going to have to drive from Cudahy to Whitefish Bay and then turn around and go back to St Francis. Then do it backwards after work. But they called me from work and said the Hoan Bridge was a mess, so I passed on the baby sitter (WFB) and took the baby to work with me. She’s currently in the backroom covered in stickers.

JoeyP, I’m in Milwaukee too. It seems the storm is a lot worse than originally predicted. I’m really looking forward to driving home at 4pm :frowning:

I, luckily, live about 7 minutes from work in good weather. Even in the worst weather with accidents it still only 10 or 15 mintues. And, like I said before, since we skipped on the babysitter, I don’t have to drive across town to pick her up later.

And even better if the weather get’s REALLY bad. We have a 4WD Bronco that we use for a plow here, and I can take that home.
ETA, I have to send one of my drivers to Racine, one to HWY 100 and Lincoln and one to 76th and Layton. So I guess I’m lucky, but it sucks to be one of my drivers today.

We’re supposed to get some snow this weekend, with a possible accumulation of 1-2 inches. I’m so sick of snow! It’s March, for crying out loud…

Yesterday afternoon I was in my back yard in my shirtsleeves enjoying the warmth of the sun. Was thinking about hitting the driving range.
Didn’t quite believe we’d get the horizontal shit I experienced this a.m.
Yes, spring in Chicago always sucks. But usually we get a warm up somewhere along the line from January thru March to make it more bearable.

About 60% of our snow melted over the last few days, so at least this is like a fresh start.

There are drifts a couple feet deep now. I’d have to estimate we got 4 inches now.

For you Milwaukee area people here’s a streaker on a local lake story.

Woo hoo! My company is letting us go early at 2pm today. I’m going to brave I-43 home, since the city streets are likely to be much worse. At least there aren’t a lot of people out today.

THUNDER SNOW! For criying out loud, I’m seeing lightning and hearing thunder!
If that doesn’t make for a Good Friday, I don’t know what would.

I’m not sure who is the bigger idiot - me planning on golfing next Sat, or my buddy looking forward to MLB opening day the following week!

It is snowing like a motherf–k. I thought Jesus was supposed to be crucified today, not be born. Mother Nature and God need to sync their clocks.

My roommate heard the thunder. I didn’t, despite being out walking the puppy.

I was >< this close to not walking the puppy today, just taking her outside and saying, “Go already!”. But I’m a good puppy-nanny and I walked her.

She was the worst she’s been in ages. Ugh.

So I was so busy struggling with the puppy I didn’t hear THUNDER. Damn puppy.

That’s the truth. Rarely too hot or cold. I’m up in the mountains. We’ve had better than 20 feet of snow at my house so far this winter. I’ll be able to make snowballs to the end of June, maybe July (seriously).

According to the National weather service we’ve got nearly 3’ of snow on the ground still. Under that we’ve got about 3" of ice, too, since it keeps raining as well. What kills me is I work 15 miles away and there’s bare ground in a lot of spots. Why won’t the snow melt here??

Oh, I know why. It’s because in addition to being vastly snowier than normal (normal winters have 60" of snow. We’re at 110" and counting - it snows through April up this way) it’s also colder than normal. Most of this month is 4-9 degrees colder than the daily average. No fair. Snow is supposed to melt off in March, before April storms dump another foot or so, but if it persists in being only in the 30s, it doesn’t do it in a hurry.

It’s very wrong when people are looking forward to mud season, but we are.

I grew up in Northern Ohio & lived through 9 Korean winters also. Believe me when I say that what Denver gets isn’t “winter”. More like short bursts of winter with lots of spring in between.

Fugazi was the title of the second album from a band named Marillion. Seemed like a good name when I was signing up. And nope, that wasn’t me with the plate.

It’s also the name of a band. Which would be personal guess as to what the licence plate was refrencing.

It is crappy here in Ohio as PunditLisa said.

We get snow then rain then snow then rain then a mix of snow and rain and I just heard we are getting snow again. I wish she would make up her mind.

This time of year is depressing. The skies are grey, the ground is a mix of nasty water soaked grass and piles of dirty snow.

The only sign of spring I saw yesterday was two Canadian geese that wondered into our smoking section at work to steal some birdfood from the bird feeder we have. They left us some nice goose poop as a present.
Snow again? Say it isn’t so. I’m looking out the window at overcast skies (yesterday was beautiful though!) and there’s a slight chill in the air. But in my backyard the crocuses are blooming, so I know Spring is here. At least the crocus seems to think so.

…so the moon-rock-looking piles of snow are now covered again in white. And today is absolutely gorgeous out, lots of sun melting the ice off the streets. My son shoveled the sidewalk in a t-shirt the sun is so warm.

My brother had to drive from Madison to Rockford and back yesterday. It took him three and a half hours one way. I think it typically takes maybe an hour, hour and a half.
