Moulin Rouge questions...(spoilers)

I’ve read in a multitude of Ewan McGregor fan sites that he actually wrote a poem that was incorporated into Moulin Rouge! I’ve heard that it was used as a voice over, though some sites say it was part of a song. I’ve always assumed it was his part in “Tango de Roxanne” that he wrote, but I’ve found no way of being sure. Can anyone shed some light on this subject?
Also, while I’ve got you here–could Christian see, from his window at the Hotel Mueble, anything the Duke is doing to Satine during “Tango de Roxanne?” I think the buildings are placed so as to give him some sort of view of some of the…events…but not all, but the Duke closes the windows to the balcony, so I don’t think Christian can see anything, but he could see it were the windows open.
Many thanks to any help I may get.

Bumping, in the hopes that someone has an answer.

If it were part of one of the songs, I would think he’d get a writing credit on the soundtrack.

Which building is the Hotel Mueble? I remember that during Roxanne, Christian is is the ballroom with the Argentinian, and then he leaves into the courtyard, where he can see Duke and Satine while they’re on the balcony. But after Duke spots Christian, they go back into the bedroom, and I don’t think Christian can see any of what’s going on after that.

Forgive me–I might have the hotel name wrong. I meant to refer to Christian’s room across the courtyard–does his window have any sort of view (obscured though it may be) into the Gothic Tower? I doubt he can see anything, seeing as how the duke closed the balcony doors, but had they been open, could Christian have been witness to any of the events therein?

I hope my rephrasing clears that up.
