Well, I’m not mouthbreather, but I’ve met him, and I also live in Atlanta.

And I’ve been to Vegas, and I saw Blue Man Group.

I loved them! It’s one of the most inventive, funny and intelligent shows I’ve ever seen. I liked them so much I bought the CD after the show.

But I don’t much care for the CD. The PVC-percussion music they make doesn’t work as well without the accompanying stage show.

You asked me this question in the OTHER thread (not the vegas thread you just linked to, the BMG thread I started as an offshoot of that thread) here http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=37542 (it’s late and I don’t feel like vB’ing, sorry.)

I replied at the end of that thread about a week or two ago. I had this to say.

yeah, we went out to Vegas in mid-September and checked the show out. It was a pretty damn cool. I thought the ending to be a bit weird and somewhat of a letdown, but the comedy and visual aspects were quite good. Of course, thinking about it, I don’t know what kind of ending I would have liked. The show was so unique and fun for me. The music was really good as well. Very energetic and rhythm heavy. Good stuff.

I bought the CD after the show, and although it is good, seeing it live kind of spoils it for you. I think a substantial portion of enjoying the music was the visual amazement of watching these guys manipulate those pipe-backpack contraptions into something that sounded good. And that’s not to say that I don’t like the CD, it just doesn’t have that “kick” that seeing it live gave off. Part of the time I was there, I found myself wishing that I was on acid (that was probably the only time I wanted to do acid in the past five years–yuk). It was so easy to just kind of back away and lose yourself in the incredible imagery unfolding around you.

I guess that sounds kind of corny, but I was really impressed with the show. I don’t know how else to explain it. I was on a big adrenaline rush the whole night after the show let out. You can ask the girlfriend, I think after about 3 hours of me bouncing off the walls she was ready to drop me off on a corner somewhere. I was surprised to see them in the Pentium commercials, those started airing shortly after we got back.

I really shouldn’t get snippy with you about missing that other thread. Lord knows that you’re probably off living the high life from all the residuals you’re clocking from Sanford and Son reruns.

D’OH!!! I searched for ONE thread but not the RIGHT one!! Whata lunkhead! Well, at least I can die peacefully knowing now. If I ask you again just ignore me… L… I’m glad you liked it. I sure did.

BTW… you think I’m getting big residuals off Samford and Son? No way! In those days the contracts were against the black man and everything went to “the man”!
