Want to move some pictures from my wifes Galaxy S7 Android 6.0.1 to a Win 10 computer.
via USB.
This works fine on my Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.2. Windows just mounts the phone as a drive and I can browse the files.
On the Galaxy S7 Android 6.0.1, the Win10 machine sees the phone, but no folders or files.
Umm… I’ve been Googling this for a few hours with no help. I’ve checked everything I can find on the S7 as far as storage and enabling USB connections, but can’t find anything.
You sometimes have to set the connection mode for USB. My Note II defaults to “installer” mode and I have to pull down the access menu to set it to “media device.”
Ever since i updated to marshmallow, which i think is android 6, ive gotten a notification that lets me select the type of USB connection. Pulldown from the notification bar and check for it when the phone is plugged in to the pc.
Also, for reference (it’s clearly not a problem for the OP): if you’ve configured a lock screen (pattern, password or fingerprint) on an Android phone, as long as the screen is locked, you get the same symptom: you see the phone on the computer but not its contents. Unlock it before plugging it in, it confuses Windows a bit less.
