That’s a bit nitpicky. Google tells me that there was indeed a movie from 1982 title simply The Thing that was set in Antarctica, but until today the only movie I would think of was the 1951 movie with James Arness in the titular role. The full title was The Thing from Another World, and was set in an Arctic research station. All my life it has been referred to in shorthand as just The Thing.
ISTM that disallowing The Thing is akin to dismissing Dr. Strangelove because someone doesn’t use the full title of Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
I did not realize that the 50s version was set in an Arctic research station; this was not a “you used the wrong name”; it was a “I thought all versions of The Thing were antarctic.” Actually, I hear “The Thing” and ALWAYS think of John Carpenter. I was familiar with the short story before the movie anyway.

Since I selected the topic, I will consider panache45’s answer to be valid and have restored it to the list with the addition of the year (1951) to clarify the answer. And because that puts the list at ten, I’ll select the next category —
