A 1980 American TV-movie based on an Alistair MacLean outline. A kidnapper has taken the mother of the American president and is holding her captive in the Eiffel Tower, threatening to destroy the tower (and her) if he is not paid a ransom of $30 million. To further complicate matters, he has managed to steal and install four high-power lasers which will detect and shoot anyone who attempts to infiltrate the tower.

Per Wikipedia: [In Paris] The family wears stenciled berets, causing Rusty to be teased by young women at the Eiffel Tower observation deck. Clark offers to get rid of the beret for Rusty, but when he throws it away, another visitor’s dachshund mistakes it for a Frisbee and jumps off the tower after it, landing safely in a nearby fountain.

Also King’s last film as a director to date. By King’s own admission he was coked out of his mind while making it, and the director of photography lost an eye when a remote-controlled lawnmower went over a piece of wood.
