I recall the first time I saw the movie as a kid. I was a big Stooges fan and was excited when I saw “The Three Stooges” in the opening credits. Then I was disappointed when they literally just stood there. At that age, I didn’t get that the whole joke was simply that they were the firefighters.

A friend of mine in college had the exact same reaction: as a kid, he’d seen an ad for the movie, being shown on TV, in TV Guide, and he was so eager to see it, due to the Three Stooges being in it…and, then, was extremely disappointed by their ever-so-brief cameo.
