The Shrek movies were made by Dreamworks; in that scene, they used the same “princess” characters from fairy tales that Disney had used (Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty), but made sure to not make those characters took too much like the Disney versions, so as to not violate Disney intellectual property.
