Movie Marathon (Part 4)

Musicals where musical numbers are limited to actual performances and don’t include ordinary dialog

  1. The Phantom of the Paradise
  2. Cabaret
  3. Rock and Roll High School
  4. Xanadu
  5. Fame
  6. Once
  7. Sister Act
  8. Footloose
  9. A Chorus Line

“Limited to actual performances” doesn’t apply in this case. The auditionees sing their life stories to the director. Even if not technically dialogs but monologs, they are not performing in-universe; they are singing while “telling me about yourself.” Also, the song “Let Me Dance for You” from the movie version is a plea by Cassie to the director to give her a job, not an actual in-universe musical “performance.”

Right, then.
