Have any movie stars or musicians stated they wanted to be human shields? Or offered up praise/support to people who did?

I am going to bump this once, as I can’t find information on any celebrity that said they wanted to be a human shield. But maybe someone else knows something.
Snopes has something on this, but just says the speech was given.
