Movie Trivia Anyone?

On the Beach?

Either that, I think, or A Family Upside Down.

Your first guess was right, SkipMagic.

The only two films in which Astaire dies are The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle and On The Beach.

Oh, goody! My turn:

When entering the Haunted Forest in The Wizard of Oz, the Scarecrow carries what two items to protect him and his dubiously courageous friends?

I haven’t seen the movie in years, and don’t really remember the scene, but I know the answer because it shows up in “movie mistake” threads and discussions all the time.

The scarecrow had a pistol and a stick… but according to the “Aha, a Mistake!” crowd, in different scenes, his weapons keep disappearing and reappearing.

And astorian wins by a landslide!

Yeah, the Wicked Witch, in a deleted scene, magically made the weapons disappear, so that might account for some people thinking the weapons’ disappearance was a mistake.

I thought it was a butterfly net and a can of Flit . . . or was that the Lion?

The Cowardly Lion, Eve did indeed carry a butterfly net and an old chemical sprayer. The Tin Woodman, besides his faithful axe, showed up with a monkey wrench. Dorothy carried nothing more than her basket; I think she was planning on giving the Wicked Witch food poisoning.

Are you sure Astaire’s character doesn’t die in Ghost Story marinwood

You know she was packin’ a gat in that thing . . .

I was thinking a face astringent. The Witch wouldn’t have seen it coming…

Yes, his character was the sole survivor.

To revive this thread:

Name every film in which Michael McKean has played a musician, and name everyone who has played a bandmate of his in these films.

Well, the obvious ones are “A Mighty Wind” and “This Is Spinal Tap.” In the former, his bandmates are Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer. In the latter, his bandmates were Guest, Shearer and… Viv Vavage, Mick Shrimpton and Joe “Mama” Besser. (I confess, I don’t know the actors’ real names, and probably wouldn’t recognize their names if you told them to me!)

There was also a sequel to This is Spinal Tap, which I think might’ve been called Break Like the Wind. He also plays the very tanned harpist/bandleader Adrien Van Voorhees on Comedy Central’s Prime Time Glick, which was funny but seems to be dying. Although as Adrien, he doesn’t actually play the instrument, unlike in the aforementioned movies. I forget if he did anything musical in Best in Show. Ooh, and (since I checked IMDb for spelling of Adrien’s name, I see he also played a bandleader in Radioland Murders.

So far, so good, but you’re still missing a film of his.

(BTW, according to IMDB, “Break Like The Wind” is not so much a sequel as it is a collection of mock music videos.)

With all due respect, Governor Quinn, this thread is sinking fast.

However, I want to throw out my own trivia question:

Identify this sound–weeEEEEEp WAAAAaaaaahhh.
