Movie Trivia Anyone?

Yeah, it’s another lame “answer a trivia question, and you get to post your own question” thread (in this case, hopefully it will be limited to movies).

Other than “Being John Malkovich”, name another movie in which a starring actor is named in the title of the movie in which he is starring in.

Does The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (sp?) count?

Fatty Arbuckle and Mabel Normand in Fatty and Mabel Adrift.

OK . . . Something you can’t look up on IMDB . . . Hmmm . . . What was Jean Harlow’s first talkie? In which she actually spoke, I mean?

“Anne of Green Gables” (1934), starring Anne Shirely as Anne Shirley.

I was actually hoping for a full name in the title, but that’s okay. (Does anyone know of another such movie?)

Stephen King had a small (but bigger than a cameo) role in Stephen King’s The Stand. It was a miniseries though.

I can think of plenty. For starters…

  1. Abbot & Costello Meet Frankenstein
  2. Abbot & Costello Meet the Mummy
  3. Abbot & Costello Meet the Invisible Man…

And while she didn’t “star” in the movie, didn’t Julie Newmar appear in “To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar”?

“The Bob Matthias Story” starring Bob Matthias
“The Jackie Robinson Story” starring Jackie Robinson

The Wild, Wild World of Jayne Mansfield

Penn and Teller get killed?

I’ll take a guess: was it Hell’s Angels? (“Would you be shocked if I changed into something more comfortable?”)

Nope.

Oh, well. I suspected it was probably too obvious an answer.

Was it the Clara Bow vehicle, The Saturday Night Kid?

Oh, I forgot, here’s a new question: Name the two movies in which Fred Astaire’s character dies.

Yep! She’d been an extra in a few talkies, but that was the first in which she actually had dialogue.

Hmmm . . . I know Fred died in The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle–was the other one The Towering Inferno?

I’m pretty sure Fred died in Ghost Story.

Yes to The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle;
no to Towering Inferno and Ghost Story.
