I’m trying to get a weekly movie night going here at my school’s LGBT campus center, and while I have oodles of gay movies, and slightly fewer lesbian movies, and even plenty of trans movies, I have almost no films with any multicultural characters. I’ve dug up a few titles, like Before Night Falls and My Beautiful Laundrette, but not many more. Any recommendations? Help a white girl who doesn’t watch movies out!
Paris Is Burning
Great film!
*Chutney Popcorn
Farewell My Concubine
The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love
Our Lady of the Assassins
Strawberry and Chocolate
Watermelon Woman
The Wedding Banquet
*
Johnny Greyeyes
Fire
The Sticky Fingers of Time
(I loved Chutney Popcorn and the Wedding Banquet- highly recommend 'em.)
Chasing Amy has an African-American character that’s rather gay. But he’s only got a supporting role.
your kunst is your waffen by carmelita tropicana (warning: it’s only about 30 minutes long)
brincando el charco by frances negron mutaner
East is East is my favourite, hands-down.
sigh
I missed that in the OP. Disregard the previous post…

You guys kick unquestionable booty! And Jimpride62, I’ll show To Wong Foo right after I show The Color Purple. :smack: These movie nights will be Fabulous! Thanks a lot.
Just had to mention my favourite that fits the category:
When Night Is Falling
Oh for crying out loud.
I do second (third?) the recommendation of Chutney Popcorn, which is about an Indian-American lesbian who wants to be a surrogate mother for her infertile sister.
Try and find “Alles Wird Gut”, made by a lesbian mixed-race German chick from Hamburg. Funny stuff!
