I just went on a spree, bought some great movies and books I used to love…
Movies:
Wizard, with Fred Savage, when he and his bro go on to the video game championships.
Little Monsters: Maurice! Monsters under the bed!
Princess Bride: Geez, another Fred Savage. That kid was everywhere.
Neverending Story: Bastion! PLEASE!
Flight of the Navigator: Oh yeah. YOU ARE THE NAVIGATOR.
Books:
Where the Sidewalk Ends - Shel Silverstein
Wayside School is Falling Down - Can’t remember…
Wrinkle In Time - Madeline L’engle.
Oh yeah…good stuff!
ah, yes…the Eighties…
Movies
Transformers: The Movie - My favorite toy line, my favorite cartoon, and more big name voice-overs than you can shake a stick at…(have a copy)
The Dark Crystal: scared the bejeezus out of me, but I somehow enjoyed it…(want a copy)
Books:
Encyclopedia Brown - Sobol: The Bantam editions, not the Apple…many many hours of reading and re-reading fun…(the whole series in a box somewhere…)
Dark Crystal I have and still love. And Labyrinth!
Loved the ninja turtles too.
I do this every now and then, too. I recently bought Jennifer, Hecate, William McKinley, and me, Elizabeth, and From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsberg.
I’m planning to pick up The Witch Family by Estes very soon.
And it occurred to me this morning that I’d like to own Valley Girl (the movie with Nicholas Cage, not the Zappa song).
I think I’ll head over to Amazon now…
I purchased Anne of Green Gables and read it to my children. It was one of my favorite books of childhood. I’ve also read them several Laura Ingalls Wilder books. I loved all the classics – Charlotte’s Web and Trumpet of the Swan, the Borrowers.
