Top Gun
Footloose
Miami Vice (TV)
Beverly Hills Cop
Good Morning Vietnam
Forest Gump
Purple Rain
Can’t Stop the Music
La Bamba
By the way, I have added the following songs to my I-Tunes playlist after first hearing them on Scrubs:
A Little Respect by Erasure
Dreaming of You by The Coral
Ever Fallen in Love? by the Buzzcocks
Follow Through by Gavin DeGraw
Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley (Yes I realize this is NOT the version heard on Scrubs)
Hold on Hope by Guided by Voices
How to Save a Life by The Fray
New Slang by The Shins
Question by Old 97s
Ride Wit Me by Nelly
Something’s Always Wrong by Toad the Wet Sprocket
Talk Dirty to Me by Poison
Tell Her This by Del Amitri
Phantom of the Paradise
I’ll second that. It’s very much like the Garden State soundtrack however, if a bit more upbeat. So if Zach Braff want’s to be forever associated with that Shin’s song, well…mission accomplished.
The Matrix soundtrack has some great alt-metal, industrial and electonica tunes by the likes of Rage Against the Machine, Ramstein, Ministry, Rob Zombie, The Prodigy, etc.
Hmmm, how about The Magnificent 7…the original movie?
**O’ Brother, where art Thou?
The Graduate
This is Spinal Tap
Cold Mountain
The Godfather

And I always had a soft spot for the sound track from Thief, by Tangerine Dream. And I have no idea why.
I’m surprised nobody has mentioned the soundtrack to Gladiator composed by Hans Zimmer with contributions from Lisa Gerrard (of Dead Can Dance fame). Love or hate the movie itself, the soundtrack was perfect for it in every way.
I would also like to second Passion by Peter Gabriel, the soundtrack to O Brother, Where Art Thou?, as well as anything and everything done by Yoko Kanno (as mentioned above, in particular, the Cowboy Bebop series).
Whether or not you think the Farrelly Brothers’ Me, Myself and Irene is funny (I think it is hilarious,) it’s got an amazing soundtrack. The Farrelly Brothers are huge Steely Dan fans and they included many Dan songs on the soundtrack, except they’re covered by other artists, much like the I Am Sam soundtrack.
Midnight Cruiser by Steely Dan, covered by Nash Kato.
Do It Again by Steely Dan, covered by Smash Mouth.
Any Major Dude Will Tell You, covered by Wilco.
Bodhisattva covered by the Brian Setzer Orchestra.
Razor Boy covered by Billy Goodrum.
I’d Like That by XTC.
Hem Of Your Garment by Cake.
Strange Condition by Pete Yorn.
Can’t Find The Time To Tell You by Orpheus, covered phenomenally by Hootie and the Blowfish. (I’d always liked Hootie and the Blowfish, but this song makes me really respect them. It’s way better than the original.)
It might be my number one movie soundtrack of all time.
Yeah, in terms of original score, I would certainly agree to that.
The Sopranos

I’m a big soundtrack fan. Some of my favorites include:
O Brother, Where Art Thou? - Lots of great blues and R&B; won an Oscar.
Gladiator - As noted upthread, perfect for that movie. Genuinely thrilling.
Star Trek: The Motion Picture - A great opening theme (later used in ST:TNG), an equally great Klingon theme, and an oft-overlooked but ethereally beautiful “Ilia’s Theme” that could almost be a ST franchise-wide theme itself.
Top Gun and *Miami Vice * - Wonderful '80s pop cheesiness.
Twin Peaks - Haunting and creepy.
Glory - Stirring and glorious martial music, tinged with sadness, for a great Civil War movie.
Ray - Best single collection of Ray Charles tunes (Jamie Foxx doesn’t actually sing either in the movie or on this disc).
Cyrano de Bergerac - The Petit-composed orchestral soundtrack to this late-1980s Gerard Depardieu film is sweeping, romantic and wonderful. Haven’t been able to find it on CD, alas.
Driving Miss Daisy - A great, intimate score, with some other contemporary songs (incl. “Santa Baby”) tossed in for fun.
Country - A fine, evocative Windham Hill score.
Little Women - From the Winona Ryder remake. A great, Coplandesque soundtrack.
Dances with Wolves - Also very Coplandesque. Perfectly suited to the film.
