The thread on the Shawshank Redemption mentions that the movie seems to always be shown on cable networks.
I was thinking of other movies which always seem to be on.
The Breakfast Club and Ferris Bueller are the two that jump to mind. They’re movies most people have seen and you can jump in at anytime and don’t have to watch the whole movie.
Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II run all the time on AMC.
GoodFellas is another that seems to get a lot of play on a lot of different networks. Not that that’s a bad thing, mind you, but I recall even seeing it on Lifetime once.
Also, not a movie, but it seems like between WE, Lifetime and Hallmark, Golden Girls is on 24/7. My wife, who is only working part time right now, watches it all the time. When I leave for work, she’s watching it. If I come home for lunch, she’s watching it. When I go to bed, she watching it.
I don’t get Encore or Starz anymore, which is where a lot of the above-mentioned movies are played (at least when I did have access).
TBS, TNT, and USA seem to have spent several years of their broadcasting history showing up such cinematic masterpieces as The Mummy, The Mummy 2 and The Scorpion King. I have managed to never watch any of them through their entirety. Also popular on AMC are Working Girl and Cool Hand Luke.
Isn’t there a James Bond movie always playing somewhere at some time?
Not right now, but a couple years ago “Tremors” was on all. the. time. (I like “Tremors” - Kevin Bacon never looked so cute!)…Also: “Grease”. Now: “The Matrix” and followups.
Matrix Reloaded. Can’t figure out why episode 2 of the trilogy is always on, unlike episode 1 (less frequent, now) or episode 3 (never see this on tv).
