Movies with overlapping casts

No mention yet of auteur Adam Sandler who reuses many of the same actors repeatedly. In fact Rob Schneider has shouted the line, “You can do it,” in 5 movies with Sandler.

And from The Maltese Falcon, we move onto Across the Pacific, which share Bogart, Greenstreet, and Astor.

Oh, and in addition to Casablanca, Greenstreet, Lorre, Henreid, and S. Z. “Cuddles” Sakall were all in Hollywood Canteen (1944), although this is probably something of a cheat. I haven’t seen the film, but it seems to be primarily a vehicle to feature cameos of all of Warner Bros.’ stars of the day. So pick any other WB film of the era, and you can probably find it has three or more stars in common with Hollywood Canteen.

And Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer are in both A Mighty Wind and This is Spinal Tap.

The Avengers cast cited above reminded me that Kong: Skull Island starred Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Brie Larson (Captain Marvel) and Tom Hiddleston (Loki) but then I forgot that Hiddleston tapped out in Avengers: Infinity War and Larson didn’t appear until the next movie. In keeping with general MCU crossover, though, K:SI also starred Shea Wigham from the Agent Carter TV series, and John C. Reilly played Rohmann Dey in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

Hiddleston appeared in Endgame. That bit was setup for his Loki TV series.

I’m surprised that Support Your Local Sheriff and Support Your Local Gunfighter haven’t been mentioned yet? Not sequels, but share a lot of the same cast.

James Garner, Jack Elam, Harry Morgan, Henry Jones, Kathleen Freeman, Willis Bouchey, Walter Burke, Gene Evans… others?

Let’s see if ChatGPT can build me a quick table…

Actor Role in Support Your Local Sheriff! Role in Support Your Local Gunfighter
James Garner Jason McCullough Latigo Smith
Jack Elam Jake Jug May
Harry Morgan Olly Perkins Taylor Barton
Henry Jones Henry Jackson Dr. Quince
Kathleen Freeman Mrs. Danvers Mrs. Bently
Willis Bouchey Mayor McLaglen
Walter Burke Burke Swifty Morgan’s Manager
Gene Evans Tom Danby Col. Ames

Doy. That was a brain fart on my part. I remembered his “death” but forgot about the time travel back to his arrest. So there were three of the same cast members in both flicks.
