Movies with unique style

I loved the movie Dogville because it was so unusual. And the movie Blair Witch Project because it was the first of its kind. The Cube as well.

Not judging whether they are “good” or not. What other movies completely broke the mold as far as style? Something not done before? I’m sure there are lots more I just can’t think of them.

The Sixth Sense comes to mind.

Sin City was a bit off the beaten path in it’s visual style.

Anything by Wes Anderson.

2001: A Space Odyssey

The Matrix.

Sin City is one I haven’t seen yet. Looking at photos from it made me think of 300, which is another one.

And there was a movie 5-10 years ago where the people were all digital but looked real. Can’t remember what it was. Wasn’t that a first?

I think Memento was to some extent.

You don’t mean Polar Express do you? I think of that more as a kids movie (never saw it), but I remember people saying something along those lines.

First thing that came to my mind was A Knight’s Tale. A medieval jousting movie with a rockin’ soundtrack and modern-ish language. LOVE IT!

Schizopolis

Momento… Good one!

No, not Polar Express. I’m looking through photos trying to find it. I never actually saw anything but clips. I remember a female and it was sci fi ish, maybe superhero type thing.

Yep. Terry Gilliam as well.

A Scanner Darkly?

Star Wars.
Tron.

How about Timecode, the movie that split the screen into four quarters throughout it’s length?

Nope.

Found it…Final Fantasy

Citizen Kane

It wasn’t really the first. Cannibal Holocaust had used essentially the same idea of making a horror film as a mockumentary.

Look told a narrative story but all of the scenes that were used were designed to look like they had been filmed via various surveillance cameras.

Battleship Potemkin.
