No. I think they fail at their point. If Fiona had changed BACK to the pretty skinny princess instead of the HORRIBLE and UGLY Ogre-oh wait shes not even ugly or horrible… Shes just CHUBBY and has conical ears- if she had changed back to her regular form AND still loved Shrek it would be the message of “What’s inside counts”. Instead its… “Stick to your own kind”
And the second movie seems to be “Stay with that person regardless if it works or not because you are damn lucky to have anyone.”…okay that’s a bit of an exaggeration… but still… really messed up messages.
The ONLY reason the aliens came to Earth was to facilitate Mel Gibson regaining his faith. Duh.
But not the guys in subs. During WWII, submarine service was known to be so dangerous that the only guys to volunteer for it were indeed true believers. If you were a German who died in a WWII sub, you got what you deserved.
