Movies you've seen recently (Part 2)

Stop putting a space before the &1, it needs to be part of the URL.

Or you could just write the title of the film for which you are providing a bare link.

Ummm it’s not a “bare link” - whatever that is ….it’s a link to the trailer

….

Thanks for &1 tip.

Really glad those three Dragon Tattoo movies are available and may be an extended version. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millennium\_(miniseries) If you have not seen any of movies or read the excellent book trilogy you are in for a treat. Well worth your time and the three movies cover the three books very well. Noomi Rapace was an inspired casting choice and far better choice than for American movie choice

From watching I can see so far the series are the complete unedited original Swedish Trilogy and may have some extended scenes. Certainly one of THE best Swedish productions and a marvelous set of books. The back story of the author is sad as he never lived to see his sucess.

Another unfortunate thing is that after his death his estate and his money from royalties didn’t go to his girlfriend of the thirty years before his death. He didn’t have a valid will. So that money went to just his father and his brother.

Indeed horrid …common law arrangements not as powerful there as in Canada or Australia. I suspect Yellowbird had a legal fight to keep the movie rights - hence the name change. Enduring global masterpieces both the books and original Swedish movies.

Read the book, but haven’t seen the film.

I’ve read the book and seen the movie. Both very good, but I’d give a slight edge to the book.

A really astonishing story.

Bare link just means there’s no description. Though I’m not sure how you can deny that it’s a bare link while also not knowing what it is.

Not to be too snarky, but if you’re just going to post a link to a trailer with absolutely no commentary, it really doesn’t matter me to me if you’ve seen it recently or not. At that point, you’re just re-posting advertising.

I very much disliked them, altho i only read and saw the first.

Because of the vagaries of Orion and/or SD choices I put my commentary on the next post…..I don’t need schooling on media and commentary - I post movie trailers with commentary on several other sites without the headaches I am forced to here. Orion is still evolving as a browser so just about every day is a new and somewhat frustrating “adventure”.

I’m not “advertising” ….I’m commenting on what I have actually seen….you are always welcome to skip the posts.

And yes far too snarky…..:kangaroo:

Caught Stealing

Not recommended.

I saw Pi opening weekend when it was in theaters back in 1998. I actually hardly know anyone else that went to see Pi in the theater; it was in art theaters only. I thought Aronfonsky was the next truly great director and eagerly anticipated his next movies.

His career is a mixed bag and Caught Stealing is a boring movie. A boring thriller, too, which means no thrills and the whole thing is just barely adequate movie making. I mean, it’s shot well, edited well enough, and acted pretty sincerely. But it is boring and nothing can save it from the fact that it is a snoozefest.

Yeah, I did not enjoy this at all. Skip it.

Aronofsky

Yeah, I should have really looked that up. Thanks.

Caught Misspelling.

Once, when I was five.

Millenium/Dragon Tattoo.

This I did not know

Pilgrimage (Hulu, 2017) Recommended. It’s 1205 AD and Tom Holland and Jon Bernthal travel with a few other monks on a quest to get an artifact back to France and out of a rough and ready Ireland.

The Rotten Tomatoes score was a bit of a split decision getting 68% from critics and only 48% from fans. I will side with the critics today, the film was sparse but that added to it’s charm rather than detracted. It was sparse in set, cast and dialogue (like the COVID projects that will come in a few years) but that’s alright for story telling. I would recommend it for period piece fans and perhaps throw it on again as background in the future.

Just watched Hostiles again, which I liked better the second time. The cast is excellent, as is the direction.

It makes perfect sense, whether or not you believe he really is Elvis. (I think he is, not so sure about JFK,)

Ho, you don’t know me, but I was there. They’ve since torn down the theater I saw it at.
