DOOM. Oh, I had such high hopes…[sniffle]
Generally, I’ll try and sit through a whole movie (whether in the theater or on DVD). Not always the smartest thing to do, I admit, but I like to judge any movie I see on its entirety.
That being said, recently I stopped watching “The Descent Part 2” halfway through. The first “Descent” movie was fantastic. This sequel was so obviously inferior in every way possible that I figured watching the whole thing would be a waste of my time.
Another vote for “Death Proof” as a “should have stopped watching” movie. I saw the DVD version, which was even longer and more tedious than the theatrical release apparently. Unfortunately I was watching it with someone, and we both thought the other person was enjoying it, so neither of us suggested taking it out.
Another movie I really should have stopped watching was this terrible British-Spanish C-Grade horror movie called “Dark Tower”. The only thing this movie had going for it was British actress Jenny Agutter (the woman from "Logan’s Run, and “American Werewolf in London”) and she’s probably the only reason why I sat through the whole thing.
When I was younger, I used to think “liking good horror movies = liking all horror movies”. So I would actively look for new B- and C-Grade films to watch, like this turkey. Age has since taught me I like “good” horror films, and that’s it.
I . . . ummm . . . kind of liked Doom.
I walked out of The Cable Guy. That was the movie that made me switch my opinion of Jim Carrey from comic genius (Hey, I was young) to total spaz.
I should have walked out of Eyes Wide Shut, which was supposed to be deliciously erotic. It wasn’t in part because Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman had zero chemistry together.
I did walk out on a movie **Sliver **with Stephen Baldwin and Sharon Stone. Once again, it was marketed to be erotic and was laughably bad.
I don’t know who dragged me to **Pacific Heights **but I still want my money back. Who keeps casting Melanie Griffith? She can’t act her way out of a paper bag.
I turned off **Blue Velvet **because it was too weird for my life.
I wish that I had walked out on Nurse Betty. Billed as a comedy, about 10 minutes into it had a scalping scene. Fortunately, the rest of the moving wasn’t pointlessly gory, just dull and completely unfunny.
I went to Urban Cowboy with some friends, at the point where they focus in on the saddle a whole group of people got up and walked out. I mean how stupid was that move?? Also walked out of a Clockwork Orange at the very beginning.
Would have walked out of the Bruce Willis movie where the kid sees dead people but I was with my Mom. If you couldn’t see that end coming… what a snooze.
Or** Rolling Thunder**?

Pineapple Express. I chose it based purely on the rating on IMDB…
YES! How could I have forgotten this? I read so many glowing reviews of the movie, but when I saw it on DVD earlier this year I doubt I laughed once. Finally quit about halfway through.
The only movie I walked out of was Lost in Space. Horrible, horrible.
I saw David Mamet’s State and Main with my wife and her sister, who both walked out after twenty minutes. I was convinced that the movie was going to get better - it was Mamet! Unfortunately I was wrong – it didn’t get better. I should have left with them.
Oh, I almost forgot: Stepbrothers. I love Will Ferrell, John C. Reily and Mary Steenburgen. I don’t think the DVD lasted 10 minutes in my player.
The only time I’ve literally walked out of a theater before the movie was over was when the power went out. I remember the movie, but which one it is is irrelevant.
I had to get up and walk out of the room during a viewing of Derailed at home. The main character did so many dumb things I just couldn’t stand it. I eventually came back in, and the twisting of the story made it more palatable, but it was still very poorly conceived.
I rented Solaris with Clooney, and was watching it one afternoon when a girl I had been dating a few weeks came over unexpectedly. We sorta watched the movie, but were…slightly distracted. I then tried to watch it again the next day, and couldn’t get through it.

Oh, I almost forgot: Stepbrothers. I love Will Ferrell, John C. Reily and Mary Steenburgen. I don’t think the DVD lasted 10 minutes in my player.
I was “forced” to watch this by being over at a friend’s place while this movie was running. I would have walked out of it or stopped watching it if I was fully in control of the television.
Since I didn’t pick Derailed myself, that’s all of one movie that I’ve specifically picked to watch and couldn’t make it through. Most movies I pick to see generally have something that makes them entertaining.
I’ve ejected countless movies from the DVD player, and checked out of many more in favor of a book while my husband continued watching.
Only 3 I’ve walked out on in the theater:
**Walking Tall **(original)
**A Woman Under the Influence **-- I was too young to get it (I think)
Dreamgirls – I really liked Dreamgirls the first time I saw it, but when I went for a second time, I was by myself and really only went to kill some time. I had a good cry when they kicked Effie out of the group and JHud sang that diva song, then I left. I still like the movie and have it on DVD.
And Tommy Lee Jones is my favorite “Watch my ACTING!” actor. I’ll watch Under Siege and **The Fugitive **any time just to see him ACT.
THX 1138. I didn’t see it in the theater, but if I was in a theater, I would have walked out.
The movie I really wish I could have walked out on was Dumb and Dumber. Unfortunately, I was with my pregnant, emotional sister-in-law at the time and knew she would take it very badly (she was enjoying it very much). Instead, I pretended to have a walnut-sized bladder and ran out to the lobby every 15 minutes.
I will watch most movies all the way through. For some reason, though, I couldn’t stand SubUrbia, and had to walk out.
Only one in recent memory: Scott Pilgrim VS. The World.
But I’m not sure that counts because I left due to a screaming child. I was only 20 minutes in, but am not sure it was going to “grab” me anyway. It is now officially a renter.
Before that it was Good Fellas. We had only 15 minutes or so left to go and my girlfriend (who picked the movie) turned to me and said: Do you care what happens? I said no and off we went.
Pink Floyd Live At Pompeii. It was the first midnight movie they ever had in our little redneck town nothing ever to do town. Me and my friends did all the right things
We were in high school.
We smoked a bunch of pot.
It was Pink Fuckin’ Floyd fer chrissakes.
God it was so horrid.
There are a lot of bad movies mentioned here that I would have walked out on except I saw almost all of them on DVD. But two movies I hate hate hate and that I saw in the theater are Angel Heart and (ducking) Field of Dreams. HORRIBLE. I also wasn’t too crazy about Joe versus The Volcano or Pulp Fiction.
I’ve only walked out on one movie because it sucked: Fahrenhein 9/11.
I’ve walked out on a couple that were filmed with “shaky-cam” because they made me motion sick.
Avatar. I could have left after the first 2 hours and probably should have. After the initial “ooh, pretty 3-D” wears thin 30 minutes in and you got to see a few splosions and dragons there’s not much making me want to hang around another 40 minutes.
Arachnophobia. If you don’t have a fear of spiders (like me) then the whole movie is pretty pointless.
Pirates OTC 3. Didn’t know who was chasing who. Didn’t know why anyone was doing anything. Just a big frantic mess.
