Maybe she wants a a less rainy climate? DFW gets more than twice as much rain as PDX, which it really surprises me to learn. I had no idea anywhere in Texas got soaked that much.

I think she ended up in Michigan?

She last posted earlier today.
Yup, Michigan. Amended the plans in the O.P. quite a bit, but it’s working out so far.
DFW is fine, but I’d lived in Texas for thirty fucking years. It was time for a change. Climate wise, I was tired of my brains melting out of my ears. Everyone has been all, “But Michigan is so colllllllllllddddd!” Good. It better be. Bring it!
I was frankly a bit disappointed by winter so far, to be honest. All the locals fall over themselves to assure me this was an exceptionally mild winter. I now unfailingly reply that I brought some Texas weather with me when I came up, tell them “You’re welcome!” and everyone chuckles. Great social icebreaker.
Glad things worked out for you in the end.
I, for one, would like to know about your (mis)adventures in travelling across the Mason-Dixon and how everything has settled down. As I said before, PHS, I applaud your courage and wish I had the cojones to do what you have done.

Remind me, Swampy, and once I have internet service set up, I shall do so! (Right now, I steal glimpses of the interwebz on random WiFi or by draining my data.)
Gotcha. Stay warm!
