Moving an unseen window in Windows

I’m running Windows XP and dual monitors, as an extended screen, not cloned.

There is a piece of software that I need to run.
Normally, I click on a button labeled “Start”, which started the application, and opens a small window containing a place to enter my sign in and my password.

I’ve recently upgraded my monitors, and the login window is now opening up someplace off screen. I can see a tab labeled “Login” on my task bar. I can select that tab as my active screen. But I can’t see the darn thing, so I can’t drag it to another location. If I try to right click on the tab, I do not get the normal menu that would let me move this window.

So is there some keyboard command that will let me move this window to a viewable location?

I’ve used this before for the same reason and it works!

I know this won’t help you, but maybe someone else… In Windows 7 you can use WinKey+Arrow key to move windows. It uses docking behavior, so it may take a few presses as it goes from left dock to floating to right dock etc. Pushing “up” enough times will maximize, and “down” will minimize. You can switch monitors this way, too.

thelurkinghorror Thanks for that tip, I’ll keep it in mind for my home machine.
Alas!_Earwax!, that’s a really useful article. I didn’t know that <alt><spacebar> was the equivalent of right clicking on a tab on the taskbar.
