I’m looking for some software to organise my MP3 collection.
I have about 300 albums in all and I think it’s about time I started using something more than Windows Explorer to sort them out
My requirements are the following :
It needs to have a user-friendly graphic interface which displays album covers.
The ability to auto-download said covers would be a bonus.
It shoulnd’t be too ‘heavy’ with extra features. I don’t care about video nor being able to burn my collection to cd.
Something with a small memory footprint would be great as I could always have it running in the background.
It has to be easy enough to use so that someone who hasn’t seen the software ever should easily be able to find a certazin song and add it to the current playlist.
What do other dopers use to sort out their music?
WMP has the worst UI I have ever seen when it comes to ripping, its easier and Faster to Google for a free one, download it, install it, then even though you have never seen it before configure it.
windows has this screwed up idea that each cd belongs in its very own folder inside another folder where supposedly all the cd’s from that band go but in reality because someone somewhere spelled your band with an 's instead of just an s at the end of their name on one or 2 albums they will get their own folder.
Unless WMP has been changed recently, it also can’t edit ID3 tags except at file creation. That’s a no-go for me. I use Winamp 5 and I’m completely happy with it, but I don’t care about album covers and don’t know if it supports that.
I’ve ben using MusicMatch for a couple of years now. I have over 4000 songs on this machine and I has done well for me. The site has a free DL trial version to check out. Organize, burn, craet song lists with shuffle capability.
